Hotel Cardinal

Exceptionally different from any hotel I have ever stayed in. There ia a true sense of living in mediaeval times when you stay here as it's like living in a noble- man's house. High ceilings, walls adorned by famous paintings, old furniture and mediaeval curtains. Our room also had modern comforts of excellent Aircon, good lighting, reasonable WIFI and French TV. The bed was large and comfortable. It was a real novelty staying here as it is a hotel you will remember for its unique character.. Great value, too. However, there are a couple of things to be aware of........ 1. It's biggest weakness is there is no safe in the room This was a real worry for us as we had to carry our passports, cash, credit cards, all valuables for four days. This has to be rectified!! 2. The glass door at the entrance needs a safety ***** across it as it is almost invisible to see. I nearly went face first into it a couple of times A health and safety hazard! 3. Hand- held Shower Nozzle. As a rule, I don't like using them. At the Cardinal, the problem is that the shower nozzle has no resting place. 4. For a mobility- challenged person, there is no hand- rail for support.Putting in a hand- rail would be a great support for disabled guests. However in the final analysis, we loved this hotel with its mediaeval character and would love to time- travel to it again!!

Hôtel Paul

A charming hotel in the centre of Aix-en-Provence run by owner Viktor and his staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel very welcome. The bedrooms are very clean as were the huge bathrooms. There is a comfortable sitting room with a bar. Breakfast is served outside in an attractive garden. Breakfast itself consisted of tea/coffee/chocolate/juice and a basket of various croissants jams and yoghurt. Highly recommended this hotel and we will return. Ann John and family.

I had a night to find, at a low price and I discovered this hotel. And I really enjoyed the warm, attentionné and professional welcome ! If you have reasonable expectations, in relation to the price: you will find comfortable litter and ears (and I've got the back malleted) and ready with draps. I explain it because it is noted: the draps are not provided but they are well and perfectly clean. A warmer space than in the mitotic hotels first-price chains. The bathroom is one more for me. And it's not the few small esthetic defects of the bathroom that would make my opinion lower. It's not luxurious but you can't expect it for this price range. But it's a very honest service. I recommend it.

Close to the bus terminal of Exxan Provence, super Marquette is also nearby, and the location is good. The room was not large, but it was convenient with kitchen, IH range, microwave oven, refrigerator, tableware and cooker. Check-in is a self check-in method, and the key of the room is obtained from the key box, but the reception is basically absent on Sundays and nights, and it is closed on weekdays. Therefore, the service cannot be expected at all. When I made a reservation at Trip.com, I was contacted to call the hotel to confirm, but the phone was often not connected, and I went to the site without knowing the key box cancellation number, so I couldn't get the key. The first day was to stay at another hotel. The next day, I asked a local person to contact me by phone or email, but I couldn't stay on the 2 day because I couldn't notify the key box cancellation number and the reception was closed. I was contacted with the key box cancellation number on the morning of 3 and paid for the reservation for 4 night, but I could only stay for 2 night. When I ask other guests, if you make a reservation with **********, you can get a cancellation number contacted by SMS without contacting the hotel, so it is not possible to contact with Trip.com It can be said that there is a problem in the reservation system. I used Trip.com for the first time this time, but I don't feel like using it again if I can't trust the reservation system.
City Résidence Aix-en-Provence

This business needs a huge overhaul. It is unacceptable to rob guests with such terrible accommodation. I had booked 10 days in this place. Upon my arrival after a long trip with my heavy backpack, the receptionist ignored me as I waited for her to greet me. What a greeting! 'You will need to bring your rubbish in the bin before you leave; you will be given fresh linen in four days; you need to sign in to the internet every time you use it; you will need to do the dishes before you leave' etc...No welcome words, only orders. I felt I was signing in to jail! I have been in hostels in the past, am well travelled and I manage my expectations, but this was far worse than any hostel, airbnb, hotel, or residence I have ever been to. Upon entering my studio - I would not call it an apartment, I found the shower head dirty, the wastebasket dirty, the walls bare of any decor except for a cheap frame. There was only ONE plastic hanger in the closet, with all the others broken. In the kitchen, there was a 2oz bottle of washing detergent and not much at all, not even a coffee maker, just a kettle. There was only one roll of toilet paper for my 10 day stay. No one was ever at the reception except early in the mornings. You could not reach anyone in the afternoon or evening. When I ran out of toilet paper, I asked on my way out to have a few rolls dropped in my room. Upon my return that night, nothing. Luckily I met some guests who were sitting outside (equally unhappy with the residence), who saved me and were most kind, bringing me a roll. When the next morning I asked for toilet paper again, after having left a note at the unstaffed reception desk, I was finally given some. But fresh towels after 4 days? The response was ”well, I don't know, I have to ask my colleague...” I could not believe the staff's attitude. I was happily able to find a place 8 days later and could not leave soon enough. (Unfortunately, in high season and at the last minute, accommodations are nearly impossible to find in Aix.)
