Djorff Palace

Ok it's all about the details. This could have been an incredible stay but all the little things let it down.we loved the pool, but again a simple umbrella over the metal steps would save the third degree burns to my feet. The biggest thing I missed was being able to make a tea or instant coffee in my room. The staff was lovely, but a little confused at times, especially at times where the boss was around. Always one thing was missing off the plate or table. A lot of broken items that needed maintenance, heard that they only repair in the off season but makes it look shabby. The dark on the reception made it hard for check in. After saying that the owner kept the kitchen open for us which was lovely. I had also asked for a room without stairs but ended up on middle floor. The best view. The boat to the east bank. The green spaces were magnificent .
Jewel Howard Carter Hotel
4.5/565 Reviews
We stayed at the Jewel Howard Carter for two nights and had an absolutely fantastic experience. It’s in a beautiful spot, across the river from the center of Luxor, and very easy to get to and from the main historic sites. The Valley of the Kings is a short drive away, and to get to Karnak and Luxor temples is an easy boat ride. The staff at the hotel are extremely welcoming and helpful. The receptionist Azza did a great job arranging our visit to the tourist sites and generally making sure we had a good stay, and the service staff were great both in the mornings and the evenings. The restaurant onsite serves delicious food, a lot of which comes from the hotel’s own garden. Strongly recommend this place!
Nile Compound
4.4/531 Reviews
Peaceful place on the bank of the Nile away from the busy areas where you can relax. The grounds and views of the Nile are beautiful. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and happy, especially Ahmed (nephew of the owner) who was lovely to me and my son and really looked after us when we went to have a look around the west bank. The owner and his wife were also lovely and we felt very safe there. You can get food there and they can organise cars and trips. If you like walking, you can walk and get the ferry or one of the many independent boats across to the east bank. Although it is away from the sites of the east bank, it is quiet and peaceful and you will appreciate that at the end of a busy day of sight seeing and haggling. Would definitely return.
