San Mateo Inn

I've stayed at numerous motels and hotels in the Albuquerque area but the San Mateo Inn is a hidden jewel. I've been to Sandia (dirty room) and Nativo (old musty smell), to name a couple off the top of my head, but this time chose the San Mateo Inn on 2/28/2023. It was a wonderful experience. I pulled in around 8PM and found a friendly lady at the check-in counter. She told me exactly how to get around the building to my room with a stop at the ice machine. I asked if she had a container I could use for ice so I didn't have to make an additional trip out of my room; it was after dark. She accommodated me kindly. The room was spotlessly clean and I asked for a quiet room, which is what I got. The bed was comfortable and had a variety of pillow types. I was quite comfortable and slept well. Large spotlessly clean bathroom. I was also advised that the Denny's, which was next door and very close, gave a 10% off discount to San Mateo patrons. Definite recommend. Great price for a great stay!
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Albuquerque Journal Ctr NW

I usually stay at La Quinta hotels because they all seem to be pretty good. This one had a very poor free breakfast. Most of the things were single serve items and looked like it was from Costco. Good thing there were plenty of restaurants around that served food, even a grocery store and a Seven Eleven. The pool was really cold even though it was still early September. The staff was really nice and the grouds were fairly clean (too many people with dogs pooping in the grass and not cleaning it up). I would stay here only if I had too. There are too many places in the same price range that have cleaner grounds and a better free breakfast.
Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Uptown

I honestly do not have any complaints about my stay. In fact, quite the opposite. From making the reservation, to the check-in/out process and everything in between, it was a great experience. The room was very clean, the price was extremely affordable and the staff was beyond professional, kind, courteous and willing to go above and beyond, especially a manager named Tony. Tony made us feel welcome and as if we were a part of the Hilton family. I have no doubts that is will be our go-to hotel EVERY time we visit Albuquerque.
Drury Inn & Suites Albuquerque North
4.5/5100 Reviews
This was my 2nd stay within a month at a Drury hotel(Albuquerque and Las Cruces NM), and is the best I've experienced with a supportive but soft bed(what I would call Medium Firm) and soft, airy pillows, which is #1 for me when I travel. The rooms are always clean and no smoke smells anywhere. The only thing I would like to see change is replace those 50-year old design noisy in-room air conditioners with a modern mini split unit with real air filtration. In a post-covid world, the future is hotels that are clean and bio-safe.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Uptown

I really enjoyed my stay at this property, and was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable accommodations and amenities. It was convenient to check in via the Hilton Honors app and use the digital key system to access the hotel and room. The King suite was surprisingly spacious, with the bedroom separated from the living room/kitchenette. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The kitchenette was stocked with coffee maker, microwave, fridge/freezer, a few place settings, some utensils, and two cooking pots. The living room sofa was comfortable. Bed and pillows were also comfy. HVAC system worked well. There were enough outlets and some USB charging plugs. My only room complaint was low water pressure in the shower (possibly a water-saving feature). The hotel was fairly quiet. My room was on the side of the property facing Cutler Ave, and there was no traffic noise. Just occasional noise from other guests. The lobby and breakfast area were inviting. Coffee was always available in the lobby, which was a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast had a wide array of items, and even some local favorites like green chile stew and tamales. The hotel is in a fairly quiet area that felt safer than other parts of town. There were warnings about not leaving valuables in cars, but no overt problems. The hotel is conveniently located near a large shopping center and many restaurants. There is a Trader Joe’s within close walking distance. There is even a cat café close by. Most Albuquerque attractions and the airport were a 10-15 minute drive. Sandia Park is about 30 minutes.
Residence Inn Albuquerque North

I visit Albuquerque a couple of times a year and always find myself coming back to this hotel. It smells so nice and clean when you enter to check-in. It is an easy-to-find location, right off the freeway. I always get a good night's sleep and enjoy the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Also, there is a PF Changs within walking distance. This feels like a home away from home thanks to the general manager, Brenda, and her staff. I can't wait to come back.
