Sheraton Albuquerque Airport Hotel

So close to the terminal, just follow the signs once you exit the terminal, cross a couple of roads and you're in the property parking lot. It's clean and although an old hotel it's kept clean and updated here and there. For example beds have seen better times, but washroom was looking good. Staff was great, food was fine and served fast. On the down side one two items: 1 only decaf coffee in the room, odd eh 2 the shower drain wasn't great and will not drain fast enough

We often use this hotel (and others) the night before flying out of the ABQ airport and the night when we fly home due to living in CO. We have a drive on each side of traveling. After traveling more than 12 hours (flights/airports) to get back to ABQ, we checked in a little before midnight. King room on the 11th floor. Plan was to have a restful night before driving home in the morning. Upon arrival, the room was 78 degrees, so I immediately turned on the "cool" setting with "high" and turned it down to 65. It has to be cold in order for me to sleep...ladies, some of you know what I mean! It never got below 74 in the room all night. I was up every hour or so checking the thermostat. I also tried opening the window. It cooled the room a bit but there was so much noise from the airport, if didn't help on the sleep front. Around 6 AM, we just got up and decided to head home after having no rest at all. I was very polite and respectful when we checked out and I told the front desk gentleman about the problem. He did not care at all! He rolled his eyes multiple times and wouldn't provide an explanation until after about 10 minutes of me asking questions as to why it wouldn't get cold in the room. He finally said that in certain seasons (winter?) they turn off the A/C and only have the "fan" setting which circulates the existing air in the room. He finally said "we're sorry" and gave me the manager's business card to contact if I had further questions. **VERY DISAPPOINTED**

Phone in room did not work. Bath tub had no stopper for tub. could not use bath.

Writing this almost a week later; much calmer now. Been a member of Marriott for 16 years, at one point in my career I was at "Platinum Status" so I have stayed a lot in Marriott properties, ALOT! Since retiring in 2020 I have stayed in 51 different properties around the country so I have seen a variety of Marriott facilities. This one was THE WORSE. Lets start with check in. Don't know what the deal was with the young gent that working the counter...could not understand a word he said, had him repeat every thing two to three times. Mumble mouthed, whispery level of volume, NOT who should be greeting guest, ( I was also NOT the only one that had problems as I was leaving to find dinner I heard another person checking in asking him to repeat that, so I know it wasn't just me). After being checked in I find out that there is a $10.95 charge for parking. Again 16 years, maybe a couple of hundreds of stays, first time having to pay for parking. Not happy but slightly amused, is the $0.95 cents to make you feel better that it is not an even $11.00 or is it a kick back to some one. (sarcasm). Shame on me for not reading the description prior to making the reservation, but never had to pay before so I (badly) assumed parking would be free. Never understood paying for parking, The fee probably barely covers the maintenance cost on the entry gate and the electronics associated with it...anyway... I park and get to my room. No refrigerator. Again, first time in 16 years of Marriott's that I did not have access to a 'fridge in the room. Really!!!!!!! I stayed at a crappy motel in Ponca City Oklahoma that was so bad I slept in the chair and it had a 'fridge!!!! Thermostat did not work room was like an iceberg had to shut the unit off completely. Did I complain to management, no. I figured I'd get mumble mouth and the impression he left on me was that he was '...going to do minimum he could for the maximum pay, and the minimal effort possible...' Towel (only one in the room) was a tad bigger than a hand towel. Again, 16 years I got used to seeing a half dozen towels of different sizes in a room. So I make it through the night, and head to my next destination (another Marriott hotel) relieved to see the true Marriott norms back in action, towels free parking, 'fridge, working thermostat, life is good again. Perhaps Marriott needs to go into the Sheraton branded hotels and revamp them to match. I know they bought Sheraton with Starwood Hotels in 2016 and perhaps they haven't gone through all of the properties to fix problems or perhaps I just got a sh*tty room, a indifferent counter person and a poor choice for a hotel.

Staff and restaurant awesome

Everything was amazing!!! But the service was remarkable!! The front desk Miajah made my day !! She was very professional and proactive in everything I need !! Every hotel space was clean and I decide stay 4 more nights !! Thank you Marriot !!

I did not like the design of the lobby area. Everything was too open and noisy. The room was advertised as in room refrigerator and there was none. The room was also over crowded with the desk table, had no comfortable chair for watching tv ,bathroom drains gurgled every time someone ran water, sometimes even when the water was being run in another room. We both use walkers and found it difficult entering the elevator because the carpet was not installed flush and was difficult to get the walker wheels to go over it.
