I’ve recently discovered this motel and loved it. Friendly staff, great rooms and convenient to downtown. Unfortunately they hired a child to work the front desk. He was working March 16th at 4:00 pm. He was the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with and is clearly new to the hospitality industry. He was so unprofessional that I had to cancel my reservation while stand it in the lobby. This made for a hectic scramble to find lodging and get to my appointment in time. Whoever that man-should is, he should be terminated immediately. The Monterey Motel had my business locked down. I stayed there three times in two months (I live 3.5 hours away) and planned to stay last night and again in April. Sad that they lost my business but there are plenty of hotels in Albuquerque and I would guess that they wouldn’t tolerate a staff member with the attitude that was thrown on me. Monterey Motel is a great place if it weren’t for the new front desk hire that knows nothing about the hospitality business. It’s unfortunate but I’ll find a new place.
