My hubby and I are seasonal residents at Swan Bay for the last three years. It all that time not once have we heard any of the staff complain or be less than extremely helpful. We know most by name and adore them all. The resort is kept up beautifully and has all the amenities you could want. They have events throughout the summer and the tiki bar is a riot! You could never go wrong booking a stay at Swan Bay!

While the website gave us hope the experience would be great, we didn't expect it to be the best camping experience we've ever had!!! Incredible site layouts (paved and level, views, grass, well thought-out utility placement), excellent dog park, beautiful views of the waterway, Tiki Bar, pools, food trucks, great staff and service, Price Chopper and liquor store next door, gas station across the street, and my birth father's hometown (Clayton) 10 minutes away. What great memories we made here. Thanks Swan Bay!!!

We went to Swan Bay Resort to visit friends. The food trucks are good but it is stinks smelly bad in the sites behind price chopper as there is s sewage facility right behind the store. When the wind blows it smells like POOP as it is a sewage trea**ent plant. I would not say it is a resort as it smells and the rules are absurd. Don't buy the wood there as it is overpriced and cut from the land as the expanded and it is mostly pine. Overpriced trailer park in my opinion. You can stay in decent hotel cheaper. They charge for electricity also.

We stay here multiple times per year since 2018. Over the years the place has gotten bigger and bigger. In fact, it has gotten so big that the customer service has gotten bad, the WiFi is unusable and the room in the park has gotten smaller and smaller. On our last stay from June 30th to July 16 we ran into an issue with the marina. We had a slip for the dates and on Friday, July 14th, we returned from a boating trip to find that they had given our slip to another boat (seasonal renter). When we asked why we were told that his boat was too big for the finger docks so they moved him to ours. They then wanted us to move to a finger rock slip despite our boat being bigger than the one they moved to ours. When I explained this was unacceptable, Nancy in the office, told me that they reserve the right to move us when they want. No phone call, no email, just return to find we have no slip. Now, we were in this slip for the previous ten days. This wasn’t a situation where we showed up and they gave us a different slip than reserved. They literally moved us while we were out on the boat. Between our RV site and the slip we are spending almost 200 a night for 14 nights. You would think we would be treated better than this. Nancy was very argumentative and basically told us too bad if we didn’t like it. We immediately canceled our next week in august we had planned. We will find another place to spend the 1400 bucks.

We stayed at this campground for six days. They were very accommodating. The sites were very nice and well kept. Traveling with dogs was very easy since they have a lot of grass and a lot of dog waste stations throughout the campground. We visited the pool and the pool bar almost every day. They even had a themed party night at the pool. We would stay at this campground again if we were ever in the Alexandria Bay area.

We have stayed at Swan Bay numerous times over the past several years. However this last stay seemed different. The bath houses were not clean. We went to all three to see if there was a difference but not so. Trash was overflowing onto the floor and the stalls were needing to be cleaned. It could be that the resort was busy but I think they should be cleaned more than once a day if that is the case. Especially for what they charge. Also in one of the shower stalls the valve was broken and there was no hot water. The pools were way too busy and crowded so we didn’t use them on a hot weekend. It would be nice if one of the pools could be adult only but that’s not a big deal. Otherwise the views on the river there are the best.

Pros: -Helpful, pleasant, and responsive maintenance crew. -Great live music. -Crafts for kids Wed-Sat. Cons (Listed in order of most important to least important): -Pool liner at the pool by the bar is extremely slippery and unsafe. Despite SB’s attempt to warn patrons with traffic cones (???) a member of our family fell. *He was sober* -Our boat trailer was moved without our consent and now the lights don’t work. If staff had called us, we would have moved it! -Chalet kitchen and bathrooms desperately need updating. Ex: Mirrors are mottled, stoves are terrible (and small), fixtures are ancient. -Chalet cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. are straight from Goodwill. (See photo of pot.) Total lack of consistency of kitchen amenities between cottages/chalets. For example, no cutting board, cooking knives, etc. -Housekeeping/management corners on things like hand soap, towel service, etc. You may feel like you are camping, while paying the price of a Chalet. -No quality control at the bar (some bartenders seem inexperienced and don’t know proper proportions for drinks).

This camping resort is very large with very few trees. It depends on what you are looking for, you may or may not like depending on that. We like it for the pools, nice level sites with nice pads. Bathrooms are clean. The folks in the office are pleasant, bartenders are good. We like the live music on the weekends. One MAJOR issues was the stairs getting into the pool, we saw numerous people fall and get hurt. I would guess at least five people fell that we saw while there for a long weekend. Someone finally taped a note on the rails going into the pool. The resort is very pricey, we like it but if they keep raising the price we won’t go next year. Its getting out of control.
