Just everything about Deans Place is outstanding, the hotel, the staff, the location and the breakfast is just off the chart fantastic, highly recommend a stay and a walk around this beautiful village.

This was my first visit to this hotel albeit in extreme weather conditions.It was a 1 night business stay. Staff friendly and helpful.Excellent value for money given the facilities in the room and the inclusion of breakfast in the room rate.Only 2 slight ******* - I had a pint og Long Man cask ale which was past its best(only fully realised this when I had a pint of the same beer at a pub in the village.Cost of the evening meal in the restaurant was quite high at ca. £46 (may be an expensive area?) - this was for a pint of beer, a large glass of wine, a starter and a main course at the cheaper end of the menu.However,apart from the aforementioned beer everything was very good.I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay in the area.

Nice staff and a good restaurant but the hotel has low water pressure meaning the shower took about 15 minutes for hot water to come through. The next morning we couldn't even get any water from the hot taps at all. It does mention this in the information folder in your room. However, I would not have booked the hotel if I'd have known. I also did not fancy changing rooms in an attempt to find a working shower.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. All the staff were really friendly and attentive and gave the impression they really wanted us to enjoy our stay. The dinner was superb. Our double aspect bedroom offered superb views over the very flooded Cuckmere valley. Warm and clean.

Veel zin heeft het niet om nog een review over Deans Place te schrijven, nu het hotel verkocht werd en half januari de deuren zal sluiten, maar ik wilde toch graag onze ervaring bij eindejaar delen. Positief: de ligging van het hotel in het mooie Alfriston is perfect, het is een prachtig historisch pand, er is voldoende parkeergelegenheid en het personeel is zeer vriendelijk. Minder positief: dat het hotel aan een dringende renovatie/verbouwing toe is, is een understatement. Je merkt onmiddellijk dat er de voorbije maanden (wellicht owv. de overname) slechts een basic onderhoud gebeurd is: ramen niet meer grondig gepoetst, overal verf van de deuren en muren af, klemmende kastdeuren, doorhangende zetels in de bar, stoffige tafels, edm. Maar ook het interieur is eerder oubollig en niet meer van deze tijd (vooral de jaren '90 gordijnen). Het ergste vonden we echter de gehorigheid van de kamers (wij hadden kamer 24, een superior double room): deuren die hard in het slot vallen, tot daar aan toe, maar je hoort werkelijk alles wat er in de aanpalende kamers gebeurt. Nochtans is dit absoluut geen goedkoop hotel, te duur voor het comfort dat geboden wordt. Toch hebben we hier 4 fijne nachten en vooral een onvergetelijke eindejaarsavond beleefd, met lekker eten, live muziek en vooral het aangename gezelschap van de andere hotelgasten en het barpersoneel.

Such a wonderful retreat, our second Christmas stay at Deans Place. From front of house, and all who cared for us throughout our stay faultless. Lovely clean room with stunning views of the Sussex Downs So much attention to detail in the the bar lounges and dinning areas The food was exceptional interesting menus each sitting and the staff in all areas of the hotel gave so much time to all guest i Thank you to every one, we wish you every luck and success for 2024

We had been to Deans Place last New Years as part of a large group. We booked again this year, again as part of a large group. Unfortunately, my father was taken into hospital seriously ill the day before we were due to go. Additionally, my brother was taken into hospital with kidney stones. Because of this we were unable to go the hotel. Admittedly it was very last minute, but in view of the extreme circumstances, our previous custom and also the many people we had recommended to the hotel, I thought that the management would grant us at least a partial refund. However, the staff were completely unsympathetic and refused to give us any compensation at all. I am very disappointed at this total lack of customer service.
