The property was in the center, so everything was easy to reach. The only flaw is that there is a bar right under the rooms overlooking the street and in the evening it was very noisy and it was difficult to sleep.

Diplomat Motel is well located in the middle of the town centre. Woolworth and Coles supermarkets are just nearby. Restaurants are nearby. The staff are helpful.

I requested an upstairs room facing the car park & pool.
I live remote from Alice & am aware of issues locally.
I wanted to view my car I. The parking area & up away from the noise.
A young female receptionist who referred to me an older adult as love on arrival, proceeded to put me downstairs by the gate where I am aware of street antics.
I went back & requested a move & was moved by a polite male.
Upstairs facing my car park.
It suits me to stay there as it’s locked at night & tradies stay there & sit out chatting late giving a decreased opportunity for visitors trying to get into your unit.
I booked well ahead & clearly it was not too busy.
I am NZ Indigenous & I felt this female receptionist was quite unprofessional. I suspect decided she could treat me differently to any non indigenous person & put me anywhere.
Not liking it.
Otherwise it was my choice as restaurants & food are good.

The Diplomat is right in the centre of town, which is both good (for getting around) and bad (noise and fighting). I stayed one night, headed out to remote communities, and then returned for 3 nights. The first night was directly above the laundry in what appears to be the oldest part of the hotel. It hasn't been updated or even repaired in many, many years. Avoid Room 419. The other nights were better - a newer room (still 1990's) but fairly basic and in need of a renovation, especially the bathroom. It's fairly cheap, so you get what you pay for. Staff varied between terrific and indifferent, although the breakfast staff were always lovely. Uncles Bar provides good but unremarkable food with a constant whiff of cigarette smoke. Attend karaoke night at your own peril, although that's not the hotel's fault!
