Amrath Hotel Alkmaar

Very good, business trip

Good location / neat bathroom / no air conditioning / small fan / high windows so you can't see much when you are sitting / 17.50 to park your car for a few hours / breakfast was ok but nothing special and automatic coffee.

Well located, quiet and clean hotel near Alkmaar city center. Breakfast buffet was sufficient and the freshly baked bread was a dream. There are enough parking spaces nearby, even if you haven't booked a hotel parking space. City center easily accessible on foot. Mattress good. The seaside resort of Egmond aan Zee is 11km away and can be reached in 10 minutes by car.

Hotel ist sehr schön gelegen an der Altstadt, wenige Minuten zu Fuß. Zum Bahnhof sind es knapp 20 min. Der Ausblick aus dem Fenster war gegen ein anderes Gebäude in wenigen Metern, was aber zimmerbedingt war. Das Zimmer war sauber, das Personal okay. Probleme gab es nur mit der Türkarte beim Auschecken, da diese bereits vor der Auscheckzeit gesperrt war und man zwei mal zur Rezeption musste, damit diese wieder freigeschaltet wird. Das Hotel kann man mit okay bewerten.

We spent two nights in this hotel on a bus tour. It seemed that tour groups were the hotel's main business. We were put in room 120. The room is large with a view of the inner courtyard. The furniture is very dark in color with scratch marks and undefined dark spots on the carpet. I think it was one of the cheapest rooms in the hotel. There was also a kettle, a coffee machine and a fridge. A small bottle of water as a welcome would have been nice too. There were lots of lights in the room, but because of the energy-saving lamps, the room was as dark as the emergency lighting on a sinking ship. There was also a safe in the cupboard on the floor so you could only enter the code while lying down. The bathroom had been renovated, was clean and had toiletries. There was an unpleasant smell coming from the drain by the sink. The bathroom was very cold because there was no heating. The hairdryer was weak and switched itself off every two seconds. The room cleaning was perfect. For breakfast, you were given a menu and a time slot from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., which was relatively tight for a tour group of 52 participants. One day, only one coffee machine worked and it took the whole time to get a cup of coffee. The buffet had everything, but refilling was chaotic and only when requested because there was hardly any staff there. But we were still happy with the breakfast despite the time pressure. In the evening, you could get a drink from the lobby bar, but there were no straws. You couldn't get anything to eat in the hotel in the evening. The old town with numerous restaurants and a supermarket were within walking distance. The staff were friendly and distant.

The worst breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. Due to the crowds due to a large group, times were agreed for breakfast. We arrived a little later, but there were no tables available. The available tables were still full of used plates. No croissants, no tomatoes, no lettuce, no glassware for the orange juice, no plates. No containers to put the jam in, no brie. Nothing of anything. Only after a long wait was everything replenished little by little, but it remained bad. And which completely closed the door. Everyone had received a Tom pouce because of King's Day, except us, because they had run out. This is quite a display. And no apologies, nothing. They should be ashamed of themselves there.

Well located hotel close to the center of Alkmar. Beautiful view of a park. But on the side of a busy road. Our room 306 was very poorly soundproofed. The wardrobe located in the entrance is very inconvenient. Breakfast OK but quite expensive. The staff only speaks Dutch and English. Satisfactory stay apart from these few inconveniences
