Marpunta Resort Alonnisos

This is the most difficult review I have ever written. My partner and I had a wonderful 11days at marpunta - so why only 3 * ? The resort is lovely, authentic and spotless. The rooms, though a tad small, have everything you need and more! The housekeeping team work hard and the rooms are spotless with quality linens, fluffy towels, luxury toiletries and relaxing colours. Comfy beds and an amazing shower complete the total upmarket feel. We even enjoyed the challenges of the steep climb from restaurant/ reception/ pool/ beach, however when we couldn't make it, we used the fun golf buggy! Joe, the assistant manager, is amazing, hard working, caring and does an amazing job front of house, smoothing over the numerous and frequent discussions around food and beverages ( I will come back to that ) Joe is very ably supported by demitri and for our first week, Seus ( not spelt correctly) who was whipped away back to the Princess when he was needed most ! _ I hope the sentios group know what an asset these 3 men are! The pool, sunbeds beaches and gardens are immaculate and the position on the headland is stunning. Unfortunately I have to honestly report on the food/ restaurant/bar- or lack of ! Again I will start with the positive - my partner is gluten free and the kitchen team, chefs and servers did everything they could to accommodate him, even cooking fish fom scratch when the alternative was in sauce, potatoes and every night the pastry chef turned up with a huge portion of panna cotta for him !!!! Unfortunately this lovely attitude can not be aimed at the restaurant manager who was impersonal, unfriendly, pompous and rude. He constantly put down and shouted at, the lovely young staff who were trying to learn systems, languages and deal with the overcrowding in the dining area. The hotel was almost fully booked however the students who formed the most of the restaurant staff didn't arrive till almost 3 weeks after the resort opened. Surely the management of the group would have been aware and either employed more staff or restricted the number of guests until they had sufficient staff. Again Joe stepped into the melee and was seen moving furniture, clearing tables and even changing beer kegs whilst the restaurant manager stood by the till generating enough paper receipts to wipe out a rain forest, Wine was purchased by the glass the first week as we were told there was no wine by bottle initially. The wine glasses became a standing joke as there were at least 3 different sized glasses and were served half full ! It was the luck of the draw if you got a big glass, especially if your companion got a small one!!! The restaurant opened at 8pm and closed between 9,15 and 9,30. There was no other bar open, so it was like the priory - back to the room before 10pm! Because of this people stayed at the table they had had to queue for from 7,30! I recently had the pleasure of attending a yoga retreat at Marpunta Hotel with a group of friends, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the incredibly supportive manager Joe and his attentive team. The hotel itself is nestled in a serene location, boasting not one but two stunning beaches. Each offered a tranquil setting perfect for relaxation. The crystal-clear waters and pristine sands were a highlight of our trip, providing the perfect backdrop for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. A special shoutout to the manager,Joe, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. He offered valuable advice on the best beaches in the area, which allowed us to explore and enjoy some of the most beautiful spots Alonissos has to offer. His attentiveness and genuine care for our experience made a significant difference, and we felt truly cared for throughout our stay. In addition to the breathtaking surroundings and excellent service, the hotel itself is well-maintained, with comfortable rooms and good food. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged to make our retreat as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Overall, Marpunta Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. If you're looking for a serene getaway with beautiful beaches and outstanding hospitality, I highly recommend this gem.

It is a truly idyllic place with a wonderful beach, swimming pool and restaurant where you can watch the sunset. Joe and Dimitri and all the staff cannot do enough to make your stay an absolute pleasure. From the moment someone picked us up from the airport took us to their sister hotel The Princess in Skiathos ( as we had a late flight) then taking us to the ferry the next morning and handed us our ferry tickets the level of service is amazing. The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day with fresh towels. Just a truly fantastic holiday

My husband and I just departed after spending 2 weeks at Marpunta Resort. I will say that I was not led by any social media or any articles from the UK times. We have been to Marpunta already 4 times, and each time, it's more and more amazing with its beautiful beaches and friendly staff. We celebrated our 36th anniversary in April so we decided to enjoy ourselves. The reviews below are harsh and unfair to these hard-working kids and staff members and management, and obviously, these heartless individuals are spoiled and soar individuals who strive to make other people lives miserable. The only thing subject I will agree on is the restaurant manager yelling at his already uninspired staff and reprimanding them in front of guests and other employees. This person has no business working in such a beautiful establishment like Marpunta Resort. But these kids work hard at the service, and yes, they need training, but some of these reviewers must have never asked what happened. We did and understood them and had sympathy. Some heartless reviewers without know just passed judgment. Get over it and move on if these kids don't remember your anniversary. It sounds like these people had no plans and relied on these staff to celebrate in a crowded room their accomplishment of marriage. Many people don't care about your birthdays and anniversaries, if that's why you came here. You came here for the wrong reason. The food and the environment were plenty for my husband and me and other friends we made while being there. But it is clear that the true individuals holding this resort strong are the housekeeping department with their clean and spotless rooms and your front of the house at reception. Dimitris and Joe NOT the deputy manager but the delightful Resort Assistant Manager. Both have a smile that lights up any room and any situation. Dimitris was a bellman who helped us and is now the front desk manager. Great selection, Marpunta. He makes everybody feel welcome and warm staying at Marpunta. He is always ready to assist guests with such charm. Joe is the true leader of this resort, and we saw tjis last year. He is passionate, cares about people, stays, and runs his rooms, which are strong and high discipline. His leadership and attentiveness show in him throughout the resort. This Yank from American who has 3 decades in the industry of hotels, brings a different type of hospitality to Greece that others are now following. He even picked up tables and located them somewhere else at dinner to accommodate some whining or ungrateful guests staying there. We saw him pick up dishes and clear tables, the service staff enjoyed him at dinner, and the staff followed his lead. Such a great lad with true meaning of a leader and manager behind his name and reputation. Dimitris and Joe are the future of Marpunta and some of these reviewers spent more time enjoying and getting to know the staff they could see what wonderful people they truly are. We had a great an

Had the best time at Marpunta Resort! The property is such a magical, peaceful place, a true hidden gem! I was here with a group for 5 days for a retreat. My experience was great. The rooms and overall resort is kept impeccably clean, and I was blown away by the two beautiful beach front areas that feels like you are on your own private island. Talk about relaxing!! Special shout out to Dimitris who greeted us at every moment with a smile, his hospitality was top notch, 5 star, and truly stood out above the rest. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and accommodated all of our needs at every moment!!! He was greeting guests every day with a smile made our trip even that much better- he was so helpful from the moment we stepped on the property with our luggage and showing us around to everything the property had to offer both on and off resort. Food was great, plenty of options at the buffet and I especially appreciated all of the kitchen staff and chefs who carefully accommodated my nut allergy and answered any questions I had throughout. Our waiter for dinner, Akis, was excellent and made us laugh every night at dinner! I enjoyed delicious coffee every morning from Barista Alexandros and the bartender girls at the pool bar were also fantastic. Thank you all for working so hard to make for a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back!!

Very accommodating hotel and very relaxing. Super friendly staff especially Zois and Dimitris! I had cut myself, and within seconds the staff treated it, and made sure I was okay. Pleasurable and satisfying experience. Will definitely come back!

Resort lovely embedded into nature at the oceanfront, in the trees, with amazing viewd to the ocean. Dimitris the Front Office Supervisor being the all round talent, a lot of energy and hearty hospitality and customer orientation.Thanks for your care and making us a great time!
