This is the best place if you want stay close to nature & animals! The stay is located above the city, inside the forest on the hills, in quite remote area. It's very quiet hideaway spot and so close to nature that you can experience various animals passing by just outside of your stay - we seen monkeys, squirrels deers, lots of birds, including toucans. Yes - there is short dirt and steep path to the stay but - But honestly this place is worth that walk! Owner is very helpful and will happy to help & carry bags if you need it! Also its very new and fresh stay - and access path may change and get improve little bit over the time (keep in mind that life and situation in Sri Lanka is even harder for local people due to covid!) The room we got was looking very new, very spacious and clean, with everything you would need during the stay. The owner is extremely helpful, smiling, always willing to help. The breakfast (included in price) or other meals - you can have outside on the patio/terrace, which is the best way to have it! Strongly recommended! Food cooked by owner is generous and very tasty! We asked owner to prepare dinners for us - having Sri Lankan meals served with cool portable LED lamp on terrace & surrounded by sounds of nature was absolutely unique and amazing experience! Bonus - local tea served by owner is the best we had in Sri Lanka! Very fragrant, unique taste! I really regret I haven't checked it with owner and I haven't bought it for myself! We mostly walked to town and back - it'something around 15-20 min walk - we enjoyed beautiful views from the hills! Perfect spot for hiking - This stay is located in quite close distance to Ella Rock start path. ( When you reach train tracks - turn to the right side!) for other areas you can always take a tuk tuk. Owner is very responsive! Feel free to message him if you have any questions! PS. TIP - There is few small shops on road nearby - you can find snacks, botled water, coca cola without any problem - BUT - if you wish to drink cold lager on terrase at the evening time after long day of walking (without having extra trip to Ella city centre) - Make sure you get lagger at ANY wine store on your way to ELLA! There is basicaly no wine stores in Ella - only 2-3 pubs in Ella city serving lager for 400LKR and up. Other nearast wine store in Haputele sells lager for normal price 200LKR. Another wine store nearby is in Damodara.
