Despite being a 5-star hotel in Sri Lanka, our initial experience was subpar. The room we were allocated seemed hastily arranged, lacking even basic amenities like towels. Despite calling reception multiple times, the room wasn't cleaned promptly, and we only received water the next day. The overall experience, excluding breakfast and the scenic outdoor location, fell short of expectations.
Throughout the night, power interruptions were frequent, causing the AC and other devices to go off briefly before backup kicked in. The hotel staff's knowledge and efficiency in managing guest requests were lacking. During dinner, we observed identical spreads placed in three different corners, offering limited variety. The cost of approximately 8,000 rupees appeared disproportionately high compared to city hotels, considering the taste and variety of the buffet.
While the hotel boasts picturesque views and a serene location, experiencing genuine hospitality may require patience and multiple requests. If you seek a peaceful location, it may suffice, but for a truly satisfying hospitality experience, it might be worth reconsidering unless you are prepared for persistent follow-ups.

Vihanga elevated the breakfast experience with amazing customer care. Despite the big crowd all staff made sure no one was left out from exceptional service. Spa services is a must try aswell. Thank you for the lovely experience. Hoping to come back soon.

Very nice resort with good food and great service. Had a lovely stay with friends and family. Friendly staff, nice location, short distance from the express way. Plenty of things to see around the property within a short distance including birds park, botanical gardens.

Standards have really dropped !!!! So my brother was in town from Australia, because the kids love the beaches we decided to visit Marriott and Shangrila… I understand that it’s off season and it was a weekday,so there was less crowds.But that doesn’t mean we got the hotel cheap.they really cut down on the buffet…poor combinations of food.there was no curry for hoppers.i had to request for one. Guests pay the same amount, whether the hotel is empty or full so they should maintain the standards. There were no porters.no housekeeping came to our room.no staff at the recreation Center.flying trappiez is something my kids always enjoyed and these activities were free.now they charge and also there was no staff to operate.very reluctant to operate. It seems like the whole hotel was dead.

The hotel is amazing. Family friendly with many activities for children. Amazing dining experience at the Bojunhala with Presath who looked after us with great care. My son enjoyed all the meals. Presath made sure he was spoiled. Thank you to the whole team and the chef!

We had a wonderful experience at Shangri-la Hambantota. The room service, food, and staff were all excellent. I want to give a special shoutout to the Bojunhala staff, particularly Prasad. I requested a special table arrangement to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and Prasad did a fantastic job in making it happen. He arranged a beautiful table and offered us a delicious cake. Thank you so much, Prasad and the Bojunhala staff.
