Matachica Resort and Spa Chill vacation, What a relaxing vacation…. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the staff of Matachica @@@@including but not limited to: Archie - heart of the resort Julio - great waiter. We had a (relatively) good time at this resort. Everyone was super nice and friendly except the front desk people. We found one of their front desk staff to be extremely rude and abrasive towards us at the end of our stay that it really left us with a sour taste in our mouth. She was dismissive and abrasive to both my husband and me. I’d like to think that for a four star resort, which we stayed for 2 weeks, that this wouldn’t be the case but disappointed. Ruined the end of our trip and not okay!

This is a stylish, well maintained resort in a great location. The resort has everything one could need in this location, and the staff is outstanding. They are all highly attentive and it feels very genuine. Many of them have worked here for years and they really seem to enjoy their jobs. We did a number of scuba dives while we were at the resort. Those were great too. There were many other activities and excursions that we didn't have time to sample. Definitely an enjoyable stay and a place I would recommend to others.

The best place we’ve ever stayed. The staff was incredibly attentive. Anything we needed, they acted on. Snorkeling at the reef near the property (kayak to it) was no joke. We saw sharks, manta rays, and many beautiful fish. Oddly enough, one of the best, unique parts was that you can connect with the front desk via what’s app and send text messages with questions or requests. That made it super easy to check on things, ask questions, make dinner reservations, get towels, etc super easy. If we go back to Belize, it will be to Matachica.

Picture perfect with amazing private accommodations facing the beach, sunrises, boat rides to the resort, coconut palms swaying in the breeze, salt water pool and so much more! The front desk staff were amazing as was Julio for breakfast. A standout was Josue (evening bar) who was attentive, engaging and witty! A favorite of ours and of other guests we interacted with! Would most highly recommend!

Beautiful resort and great staff! We loved this hotel, and we enjoyed the boutique feel and the charm. The staff was so friendly. In particular, Lance who bartends at Mambo was the absolute best. He had great attention to detail and was so kind and friendly. We also really enjoyed boat captain Henry. We highly recommend taking their full day tour to Caye Caulker while you’re there. We’ll be back to Matachica!

Coming from Manta Island Resort, Matachica was definitely underwhelming. The prices, hustle and bustle of San Pedro, and overall vibe is substantially different than Hopkins or Dangriga. For being a 16+ resort we were baffled that the hot tub was shut off so early and was not turned back on - same with the time the tree bar closed down ( not that we sat and drank here much due to the prices; cheaper to go into town and grab your own drinks) . Further, while I understand safety is paramount, the beach guys were overwhelming with precautions when taking the the Kayaks out. That said - being so close to the reef is a huge bonus and definitely something you should take advantage of! We opted to not eat at the restaurant due to the exorbitant prices, but did find a neat place just north of the resort called the Moon Bar that we highly recommend! A pleasant surprise was the Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley tour - the captain and guide was incredibly friendly and thoughtful, and there was just 4 of us making for a nice outing. The drinks and snacks afterwards was a nice touch - I do recommend if you stay here!
