Captain Morgan's Retreat

Had a great time at Captain Morgan’s July of 2026. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our group. Phil, the manager went above and beyond to accommodate our group of 10. We got in after hours and he ensured we had a smooth check in as well as resolve a last minute issue we faced on departure day avoiding a huge setback. Will continue to stay here, as the service is the best I have experienced on the island.

Rooms, clean and well put together. The kitchen staff and bar staff, excellent food delicious especially the Fry Jack's! The management staff especially Phil were wonderful and went way above and beyond to assist our every need. Thank you Phil for saving my return home!

This is about the restaurant ....... not good. At all. Shabby/ugly. I can do shabby-chic and simple/budget - but this was just plain run down. The menu offered ham as a meat choice for breakfast ...... it turned out to be some reconstituted mystery meat that was too icky to even try. Couches outside had filthy/torn/cracked cushions. Cushions on the chairs in restaurant were quite dirty. Bathrooms were nasty and toilets did not flush. Waitress was very nice - she has my sympathy.

The place is run-down, dated and over-priced. Our pillows smelled like body odor, the light in the bathroom was constantly flickering and making zapping noises, and the place looks like it hadn’t been updated since 2005. It was a two star hotel.

We recently returned from our trip to San Pedro, and I wanted to share that our stay at Captain Morgan's Beach Retreat was a highlight of our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with great kindness. Janet at the front desk was wonderful; she ensured our check-in was seamless and personally escorted us to our room. The entire property has a peaceful and incredibly relaxing atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our beach bungalow. The waterfront views were breathtaking, and the accommodations were comfortable and well-equipped. Having a fridge and coffee maker was a great touch, and we loved spending our mornings on the porch. A special thank you to the restaurant staff. The owner, Maricruz, and her assistant, Ingrid, were incredibly attentive, and the food was consistently delicious. We were especially touched when they surprised my daughter with table decorations and red velvet cupcakes for her birthday. It was a thoughtful gesture that made her day very special. We will highly recommend your retreat to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a lovely and memorable stay. We will return.

Everything about this resort was amazing. From the moment we checked in with Janet the front desk lady.

One pool was so cloudy that you could not see the bottom. The other pools barely had any lawn chairs or umbrella's. Before staying at Captain Morgan's we stayed at X'Tan Ha, which was awesome. Almost everything was included at X'Tan Ha. i.e. gas for the golf cart, breakfast (which was delicious and large portions) shuttle to town, flitered and drinkable water. I felt at Captain Morgans' the nickle and dimed you for everything little thing, none of the things mentioned above were included.

The ocean view was great; however, despite the resort pictures showing you could walk right out onto the beach and access the water, you could not because of the sargassum seaweed. There was a dock for water and boat access. Our room was sufficient, but the entire resort was a little run-down. We went without water one day, and went without hot water for two whole days. Most mornings, we woke up to noise from the construction that was going on. The restaurant closed early because it was slow, so we didn't get dinner that night.

We had a good stay at Captain Morgan's Retreat. We stayed in a cabana room with a porch looking out on the water. Beautiful view. Super clean. Super nice staff, always with a smile. Cute little store on the property to pick up a few needs. It's north of town, so it's very quiet there. The food at the restaurant was good too.
