Nice friendly staff, however rooms tired and shabby. Dirty bathroom, and rooms in a poor state of repair. Good parking, but no electric charge point for EV's. Food in the pub not that good. Basic frozen ingredients, burger and fish in our case, and nothing to write home about. Expensive food for the area as well.

Very comfy welcoming stay. Friendly efficient staff. Room service meal was delicious. Was a function happening Saturday but the room was located far enough a way not to cause a noise issue. Excellent location as close to all the facilities in Southampton yet a peaceful lovely spot. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel needs a good revamp rooms are very dated and not cleaned to a high level, reception has an odd musty smell which also goes into corridors. Patio area and furniture needs a good clean, restaurant limited menu. Thatched cottage frontage but hotel rooms in a 60s built building

My husband and I popped in here for coffee this morning. For some reason it took 20 minutes for our coffee to arrive, despite there being three members of staff on duty. Other people were waiting a similar length of time. Staff were friendly, just very slow.

Overnight stay and glad it was not longer. Spacious , bright though characterless public areas, but the double room was grim - very plain, tired and depressing with a tiny TV. No cheerful touches to the decor or extras such as bottled water. Felt like a cheap roadside motel . The bathroom was particularly poor with a shower curtain and a non-functioning soap dispenser at shower height - out of reach if only using the bath itself. This was chipped and rusty in parts. The pipework behind the toilet was thick with dust and the bowl discoloured with brown limescale. Generally horrible. The extractor was not working and dirty. A redeeming feature was the helpful staff.

Lovely hotel with pleasant staff and a great breakfast. My room was clean and comfortable and had a little balcony. Tea and coffee was provided and also a complimentary bottle of water. The surrounding area is also lovely. Will definitely choose this hotel again when I’m next working in the area.

I always try to write a balanced review but I am finding it very difficult to find many positives about this hotel. We did eat an evening meal at this hotel and the food was good with a quick service - (we had booked and paid for the meal at the time of booking the room, otherwise we would have looked elsewhere). There is also a large and free car park. On entering the hotel there was an overwhelming smell of damp which wasn't very welcoming. I asked three members of staff (at different times) what this was from and all three claimed it didn't exist and they couldn't smell anything, but now reading a review for a previous visitor in February it obviously was the same then. The corridors also smelt strongly of paint where a work man was touching up paintwork and we had to dodge the wet paint areas. First impressions were bad. Our room was dirty and very unpleasant. Towels and bed linen were clean and of good quality although the mattress protector was soiled. The tea tray looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months and the tray wasn't refilled with tea bags. The drinking glasses looked dirty or maybe it was an inefficient dishwasher as the glasses were the same at breakfast. The previous occupant had left their shampoo in the bathroom and the room lacked adequate ventilation. I'm not sure when the room was last dusted as there was cobwebs galore. There was a lovely balcony, which attracted us to the room when booking, which was filthy. Breakfast was very poor. Coffee and hot water for tea was self service from a thermos flask! It felt as if we had gone back a couple of decades. The bar/breakfast area was grubby and also smelt musty. The choice of continental breakfast was practically none existent and everything was uninviting. Staff were pleasant but unenthusiastic and some unprofessional. It's been many years since I have been so disappointed with a hotel. We definitely wont be returning and my recommendation is to avoid.
