Rowell's Inn

We had a wonderful two night stay at Rowell's Inn in early November. From an easy friendly check-in, to a warm send off, every element of our stay was welcoming and charming. The inn itself is gorgeous, and we loved the location being a little more off the beaten path. The restoration has been lovingly done! Highlights: our room (Miss Caitlin) was cosy and luxurious, particularly enjoyed having a bath in the well appointed bathroom. Access to the upper balcony was great, and we enjoyed watching the sunset. The living room was cosy too and I read my book in the comfy arm chair every night! Food was great, in particular at dinner. We had a wait for a table, but it was great to see the Inn so busy so it wasn't an issue. Service was again brilliant. Breakfast was nice too, particularly when you have a cooked option. I would definitely stay again, and for a romantic break it really hits the spot. Lovely!

I LOVE old historic Inns and this place was perfect! The owners were SO nice and the rooms were beautiful. We loved sitting on the porch at night and getting breakfast at the cute little tavern. We explored Manchester during the day and visited Esmerelda for dinner. We came back to enjoy a night cap back at the inn. Great location for exploring Chester and Ludlow too! I loved the charm and welcoming feel the inn had. We will definitely be back!

The Rowell's Inn is one that exudes a historic presence as it's been around since 1820! The owners preserved the historic nature of this house on both the outside and inside. The host was very friendly and welcoming and the room was quite an eye opener. Though it's very historic, I was glad that there was an A/C in our room as it was quite hot that day. One thing to mention is that perhaps on purpose a TV was left out of the room and the faucet has a separate cold and hot water flow as it was common in the past. Note though that typical for these places, the bedrooms are on the second floor that need to be accessed with a staircase which is a bit of a workout in case you have heavy luggage. For breakfast, we got the French toast which was tasty however I would have liked if there was a choice of getting regular eggs and bacon instead. Overall a great stay.

We absolutely loved the Rowell Inn. Room was nice very clean. Had a home feel about it. All the guest areas are so nice. You feel like you stepped back into time. Sitting out on the fron upper porch was so nice. Breakfast that was provided the next morning was so tasty. Christina who is one of the owners is so pleasant and genuinely seemed appreciative that we stayed there. She was very helpful telling us about the area and where to go. She was so friendly and also told us about the great history of the home. Beds are very comfortable. You know it's got to be a good place when the locals love going there. I would highly recommend you staying there.More Date of stay: June 2022

Historic stagecoach inn in good VT travel location. Prior reviews posted on Tripadvisor seem to reflect the experience under a former owner. The present hostess owner (for about two years) was excellent in her attention to guests. The menu in the part-time Bar & Grill needs improvement. Suggest booking dinner at Chester, a few miles to the east on RT.11. Too many stairs to carry bags up to second-story bedrooms for senior visitors. We were uneasy overnight, as the front door is left open, without a night auditor on duty. A sign on the front door advises people to call a telephone number, which produces a speedy appearance of the owners living nearby. Beyond that guests must rely on an old-style surface-mounted latching room lock. The antique deadbolt could not be engaged, due to misalignment of the surface-mounted parts. Expect significant highway noise from Rt. 11 in the two rooms facing the road. Although extensive improvements had been made to bring the inn up to code there is much remaining to be done to make the inn a first choice in lodging.
