Highland Lake Inn

Terrific B&B. The hosts were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable place to eat our take-out dinner. The breakfast was wonderful - granola, custom eggs, fresh fruit. The bed was comfortable and the setting was peaceful.

For the past 49 years, I have stayed with my Grandmother in the same town. This year, due to a large family gathering (and not wanting to share a small bathroom with the entire family), I decided to spend the weekend at Highland Lake Inn. I’m so glad I did! Pecco and Gail are wonderful and experienced hosts, and delighted my family and friends (who also booked rooms at the Inn) with colorful stories and commentary. Because they’ve been in the town for several years, they are well acquainted with my family, and went above and beyond to make sure that I felt at home. The location is beautiful, the farmhouse is beautiful, the property itself is beautiful. Some of the rooms even overlook the channel of the lake. Everything was sparkling clean, and I felt very comfortable and safe. Bonus: air conditioning! NH summers can get warm! I will absolutely revisit Highland Lake Inn in the future. 10/10 would recommend.

This is the perfect spot to begin breaking out of our Covid isolation. Smart experienced innkeepers Gail and Pecco Beaufays provide thoughtful hospitality with New England ease, Italian linen, and world-class kitchen savvy. And congratulations to them for being among the first to require Covid vaccinations for all guests. This was our fourth (fifth??) visit and it felt like the best. The easy-walking (or pedaling or snowshoeing) Northern Rail Trail and picturesque Highland Lake are just a short walk downhill from the front door. The rolling yard and garden have been expanded and spiffed up, creating a powerful temptation to just plop down in an Adirondack chair and just let the day unfold around you.

Highland Lake Inn is wonderful, and the innkeepers are extraordinary! I stayed there while attending a conference 10 min away at Proctor (great alternative for GRCs). The location is very nice, across the street from the lake and steps from a nice hiking trail. It was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was delightful. The innkeepers went above and beyond, making sure I was comfortable not only at their place, but also helping me with getting to and from my conference and making sure I had everything I needed -- they became my adopted grandparents for the weekend.
