We stayed at this hotel in January 2024 - 8 nights, meal type FB, 2 adults and a child. This is our 7th trip to the Maldives and 5th hotel. On this trip, we combined a vacation with a week on the neighboring island of Vilamendhoo (we had already vacationed there a year ago). Transfer between the islands was carried out on the Angaga boat. Angaga was the second hotel on this trip. Upon arrival at the hotel, I immediately noticed some sad faces of the employees. Somehow it reminded me of some 4 star Egypt. Usually the Maldives also pleased us with the super positive attitude of the employees, perhaps we got too greedy, I don’t know. This is probably our first of 5 hotels visited, where you don’t feel sincere goodwill on the part of the hotel staff, and they don’t do anything bad, everything is fine, but the feeling is that they don’t get pleasure from their work. Although they seem to say hello, and even smile sometimes, there is somehow a feeling that this does not come from the heart, but because the boss ordered it. The cleaner can only come at 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon, you tell him, now it’s inconvenient to clean - he says, you can do it in the evening, you say, okay, let’s do it in the evening, although in principle you are not satisfied with this, but he doesn’t come in the evening. What advantages did I see: - in NG the price is high, of course, but in general by Maldivian standards this is a budget hotel. - cheap excursions. Alas, 2 of them were canceled due to weather; we only went fishing. - a wonderful lagoon with easy entry into the sea and good depth, but there was also wind and waves there. - our villa was 2 floors - spacious. - the plumbing in the room is fresh, everything works. - the reef is decent in size, area and condition, there are plenty of fish. I don’t understand those who write that the reef is dead, no, not dead by local standards, but I have not been to the Barrier Reef. - inexpensive drinks (1 liter of dry house wine - $26) - the food does not shine with a variety of culinary delights, but overall it is tasty, there is always fish, beef and chicken, they are prepared in different ways, often the meat is spicy. I had tuna sashimi a couple of times. Cool sweets made from dried fruits, ice cream for lunch. The vegetable table is quite varied. - the restaurant is not noisy, there is no feeling or buzz of a canteen. What I didn’t like - the villas on the shore are tired, the pillows are cheap, old and uncomfortable, the mattress is cheap and there are clearly not many springs in it, the bed is ancient and creaky. Noise insulation is poor, the noise of the waves was quite strong at night. - you understand, the tiles in the bathroom are not modern, but I’m sure German pensioners like them. - 0.5 liters of water per person per day in the room, in plastic bottles. - water in the restaurant is always paid (about 5 dollars for 1.5 liters) - the diesel generator is quite noisy - you can always hear the hum. - on the beach in the area of the house there was periodically the smell of, to put it mildly, sewage. - ants broke into our villa, there is dichlorvos in the room, we used it once, because about 30 of them came. - They regularly burn something, probably garbage, very often there was a burning smell in the area of the house. - if you snorkel from the pier to the right branch there are no watermen
