Wyndham Garden Ankeny/Des Moines

This particular hotel is not a good representation for Wyndham. It was quite literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and that says a lot when I average 130+ night in hotels annually for the last 7 years. If it weren't so late when I arrived and I had another place to go, I would have left and never returned. After thoroughly checking for bed begs and other hazards, I laid down a clean blanket from my luggage on the bed, slept in my clothes, and changed in the morning without ever letting my feet touch the ground. I left without showering because it was so appalling and clear that this hotel is only in existence for the money and doesn't have basic standards much less care about guest satisfaction. Two steps into the room and the smell of fish was overwhelming: sickening to be exact. There was hair on the sheets, in the shower and bathroom floor. The walls were paper thin, light was visible around the entire door to the room allowing every sound to be heard. The towels were just thrown in the cubby under the sink but clean surprisingly. The pictures look great on the website but this place is the true definition of lipstick on a pig. Completely disguised to look new and wonderful but that couldn't be farther from the truth once you arrive. Fresh paint doesn't hide enough here.

Photos are misleading. Would never stay here again. Some area renovated but poorly done. Halls and doors are very old. Got a cut from rusty exposed area on exterior door.

The photos online like a lot nicer then the actually hotel. Online says opened in 2023, but it's just an old hotel why some new paint. Walls in hallway are deteriorating. Need to have actually photos online if the hotel and not computer generated ones. The service was good but just disappointed with the look inside vs what I was expecting.

The rooms are nice enough however, I took my kids swimming and there was POOP on the pool deck! Yes POOP! I have attached photos. We immediately left the pool and went to the front desk to tell them and I was laughed at when I showed them the pictures. We went to our room where you can hear literally everything from the pool area all night long and the front desk does not ask them to keep the noise down.

We've been having a friends reunion here for the past 6 years. Was excited to see the hotel's remodel transformation. It was really needed. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable and it's nice having a great restaurant and bar attached!

It is not as pictures showed on website . The lady dont even talk to uou when you ck in it is not remodled at all . I will post pictures of our room later

The room was spacious and not in bad shape some trim was coming off and needs reglued and the hot water didnt work in the hot tub in my room and coyldnt use it and they didnt give me any money back. Otherwice it was ok would stay again

Checked in and was sent to rm 150. Walk in to a rm that was never cleaned. Then was told to grab my stuff and come to the front desk. I was then given keys to rm 250. Walk in and see base falling off the wall everywhere. I found the access door to the jacuzzi was broken. Checked to make sure the tub worked and only the cold faucet worked. Then told me to sit tight for about 20-30 minutes and they’d get the first rm cleaned and ready to go. So after over an hour’s time messing with rooms, I finally settled into 150. Wife and I took a bath. The air bubbles were freezing cold air. Left super early in the morning. Was totally disappointed by this place. Will NEVER be back or recommend.

It took 3 people to check us in, we had no hot water in our room. The room had also not been heated so it was about 50 degrees upon entry. The sheets they use on the beds do not cover it fully. There was no comforter, and they were unsure if they could get us a an additional blanket ( they did). We asked to move rooms, abd the first thing we were asked was if we had disturbed the bed (because clearly they do not have adequate staff to tidy up the room) and after several difficulties and 30 minutes of that, we said we would simply return to the original room. We were reassured that if we ran the water for 3-4 minutes, we would get hot water. There was hot water in the sink, but the shower water was barely warm. Additionally, the toilets have not been properly installed as it can shift on the floor very easily. Finally, I had indicated that I would pay at property through *******, and before we even checked in, my credit card had been charged by the hotel. There were a number of other issues with the property and room that are less egregious, but overall this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at.
