Uno. De los mejores hoteles en Antigua Guatemala.

The rooms and grounds are stunningly beautiful and well-manicured. The breakfast in the morning, made to order, was definitely what you'd find in a 5-star hotel. Staff was super helpful and recommended places to eat and offered tours, massages and more. I lost a screw from my favorite sunglasses while there and one of the staff fixed them. It's located within walking distance of everything you'd want to see in downtown Antigua. I can't say enough.

Wow! El Convento may be in my top 3 hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Conveniently located in a quiet corner in Antigua, close to the city center, near restaurants and bars. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend!

El acceso al Parqueo complicado, piscina fría y no muy buena comida. Instalaciones preciosas, todos muy amables y un lugar muy cómodo y seguro

El Convento was undergoing some cosmetic work to the street-facing outside walls during our stay, so pulling up to the hotel for the first time was “unassuming”. Once inside, the experience was everything one could ask of a luxury boutique hotel. My favorite aspect was the blending of “old historic convent” with a very well appointed and functional hotel. Wood work, tile, common spaces, restaurant, pool, and upstairs patio are gorgeous. The staff is excellent and very helpful. Ariana at the reception desk great. And helped arrange transportation for us to go to Panajachel/Lake Atitlan for a couple days. If you need transportation, ask for Edgar Barrillas. He is excellent. During the 2 hour drive to Pana, he was a wealth of historical information on the region. He even picked us up after stay in Quetzaltenango and drove us back to Antigua. The property is stunningly beautiful, but the mark of an elite hotel is the staff. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel for a stay in Antigua!

My room was not ready, they did not provide the key. I had to look for them and ask for my key.

Let me start by saying with better management this hotel could be much better. The issues lie in follow-up and responsibility. We made several inquiries to arrange our travel prior to arrival and it was like pulling teeth to get responses. We were ping ponged from one person to the next over a period of weeks because people who work there are willing to say yes to requests then never follow through. For the trouble management did offer a discount to the rate because of all of the headaches but again at luxury properties the headaches wouldn’t arise in the first place. I would have serious hesitations planning any type of large event here for that reason. Another issue was airport service, we missed our flight and it costs us 600 dollars because staff doesn’t know airport times and recommended a pickup time that was impossible for us to make our flight with “per the driver himself”. Hotel management said it’s our responsibility to know the distances and traffic however as Americans traveling abroad and using the hotels own transfer service it’s reasonable to expect the hotel to know what times we should be picked up to make our flight and take responsibility when things go wrong, we were still charged full cost for the transfer. While there we requested a site inspection for our event, the staff no showed twice and it was never done. Jessica Lopez the manager makes excuses for her staff however at the end of the day things don’t get done. Another example is a water shutoff notice we got on Sunday saying that at 10:00 pm all water will be shutoff at the property until 4 am due to maintenance. Again not really indicative of a luxury hotel to have no running water after 10pm to even wash your hands or flush the toilets. The property definitely has potential but falls short in many ways as well.

The El Convento Boutique Hotel is an excellent property. We stayed for 5 nights in Jan 2024 and really enjoyed our stay. The service was great, the room was really nice and the hotel, facilities etc. are very well maintained. The location is awesome as everything is Antigua proper is within walking distance. My only gripe was that the breakfast (which is included) was not a good look and sadly the coffee served w/breakfast was bad which is unfortunate given the quality of coffee cafes all throughout Antigua. You might like it, we didn't but it doesn't deter from the fact that hotel, its staff and facilities are great. Would definitely stay again! Overall the hotel and Antigua was a great experience
