Maison Nationale City Flats & Suites

I absolutely loved my stay at Maison Nationale. It was the perfect spot to spend a couple of days in Antwerp and I felt like I had my own stylish, clean, well appointed flat - in a beautifully restored building - right in the middle of incredible shops, restaurants & design stores. I took the train from Amsterdam to Antwerp's incredible train station (a wonder in itself), found it easy to navigate the subway (ask someone & they'll point you in the right direction) & walked 6 mins to the Maison...doable even with my overpacked luggage! From there, it's a 2 minute stroll to shops like Mecca, I mean Dries Van Noten, or 10 mins to City Hall & it's gorgeous square, the river & the Cathedral of our Lady. Walk 10-15 mins through a pretty neighborhood in the other direction & you'll find the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, great food and more. There's also a market across the street, & I loved being able to grab a green smoothie, fruit, etc. The bed was super comfortable with lovely linens and proprietors Tom & Karen were beyond wonderful. Tom met me the day I arrived, gave me great tips and confidence as a solo traveller that I had landed in the right spot. A+++

We stayed three very happy nights at Masion Nationale for a city visit to Antwerp. The location is perfect, with the city center and cathedral a quick walk in one direction and the trendy Zuid neighborhood a quick walk in the other direction. All the main museums are walking distance, but there's a tram stop right downwstairs if you want to give your feet a rest. Our room was big and comfortable, with plenty of space for a rollaway bed for our daughter. There's a reasonably priced parking right across the street if you come by car. The first morning we went to the cafe next door they use for breakfast. It was ok, but the next mornings we ate in our a room (they provide plates and cutlery along with the fridge, microwave and coffee machine) with stuff bought at a supermarket across the street and some very good local bakeries. The couple that run the place are friendly, helpful and accomodating. They are not always there but you can come and go at all hours with an entry code. There is an elevator in case you have luggage. We were really happy with the place. The only quibble I could think of is that they could have more electrical plugs. That's really all I can think of. Just a note: Superior suites are on the backside and Deluxe on the street. We had a deluxe. There's really not much of a view and while there is some traffic, it wasn't enough to prevent a very good night's sleep.

We found Masion Nationale to be a perfect place to stay - a quick walk to the historic center in one direction, and the trendy Zuid district in the other direction. Almost every major museum is within a halfhour walk and there's also a tram stop right downstairs to go further afield. Our room was super comfortable and large enough to easily accomodate an extra bed for our daughter. There's a parking and a grocery store right across the street, and plenty of places to eat and drink right nearby. We had breakfast the first morning in the establishment they use a block away, but the next mornings we ate in the room (fridge, microwave, nespresso machine, plates and silverware provided) so that we could sample some good local bakeries. The couple that run the place are extremely friendly and helpful. The superior rooms are away from the street. We had a deluxe room facing the street, and while there was some noise from passing cars it was very very light. I had no trouble sleeping. I really can't think of a single quibble, except perhaps the rooms could use a few more electrical outlets.

Really graceful room. I turned up a quarter past midnight and was admitted immediately - impressive !

This was an excellent room and location, private and spacious. My one quibble would be the shower (in our room at least) which is going to need to be completely redone soon because it's contemporary design was very poorly executed.
