Four stays in, even organised business meetings here — and the experience has been consistently good on the hospitality front. The staff are friendly, the service reliable, and the reception area remains well-maintained: clean, fresh, and showing no signs of wear. The rooms, however, are a different story. Over two stays in the past three months, across multiple top-floor rooms, the same issue presented itself every time: mold on the Velux roof windows and in the bathrooms. I checked four rooms. The problem was present in all four. This is not a housekeeping oversight — this is a maintenance failure, and it needs to be treated as one. What concerns me as much as the issue itself is that it remains unresolved across multiple rooms over multiple months. That suggests it isn't being seen, reported, or acted upon. Relying on cleaning staff to flag structural maintenance issues is not a system — it's a gap. The hotel manager should be conducting regular room inspections. That is, after all, part of the role. This is entirely fixable, and the rest of the experience genuinely warrants a stronger rating. But until this is addressed, those review points will keep slipping — and frankly, they should. ps: other than that I would play some ambient music in the bar area.

This is the very epitome of a boutique hotel experience. A charming and very friendly desk staff. Very stylish furnishings. Exceptional breakfast. This hotel has a lot of character. A jewel box hotel experience.

Our room was one of the best of our month in Europe. It had everything you could ask for and just a little more. Our deluxe room was not your average European-sized room. It was spacious. The location near the old town is perfect. It wasn’t more than 50 yards to the charm, eateries and shopping. The hotel’s bar area is cosy. My only complaint is that it wasn’t open on Sunday so we could enjoy a drink there.

Great location. Street was noisey especially early hours of morning food and service excellent. Rooms were good - bathroom cramped a little. Gym was poor.

We absolutely loved this hotel, one of the best I have stayed in. The rooms are furnished to a high standard, the staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly, the breakfast is incredible, the lounge and bar have such a lovely ambience, it is quite small but all the better for it. We will definitely return again!

This hotel betrays its guests! I booked a room at Hotel FRANQ months in advance (four months ago) at a reasonable price. After a long time, the hotel suddenly canceled my reservation without any warning and offered to rebook a room at a much higher price. This behavior is unacceptable and raises suspicions that the hotel deliberately cancels bookings to resell rooms at inflated prices due to high demand. This is fraud! I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn’t want to lose their booking and be left without accommodation at the worst possible moment. This hotel is completely unreliable. Avoid at all costs!

Liked this hotel and would stay there again. However next time we would pay a little extra and opt for a bigger room than we had on this stay. We were there for 4 nights , and the room we had was probably only suitable for a 1 or 2 night stay.
