Habarana Tree House Ambasewana Resort

A really unbelievable paradise-like resort. Magnificent garden. The whole family runs this resort with love and enthousiasm. Beautiful treehouses. We had one with private pool!!! And the food...best we have had in our entire stay in Sri Lanka!!

A unique experience in the treetop. The staff is very friendly, and the place is like a little fairytale. It feels like stepping into a jungle dome in the middle af the city. Especially having our morning Coffee on the terrasse while the jungle wakes up was special

We loved the few days we spent as a family at the Habarana Tree House Ambasewana Resort. It's run by a really lovely family who were incredibly kind and helpful. They cooked very tasty local food for breakfast and as a buffet dinner. There's a lovely pool area surrounded by palm trees. But the real selling point for this place is the tree houses themselves, which are a lot of fun. They are stylishly done, include air con, and offer a really different experience to a normal hotel room. The partly open air bathroom comes with warnings about monkeys stealing your shampoo. Great fun!

What an amazing resort!!! We stayed in some incredible places on our trip through Sri Lanka, but this was the favourite for myself and the kids!! First of all, the location is perfect for exploring the Habarana/Dambulla/Sigiriya area (30 mins drive to Sigiriya). The resort itself is full of character, charm and tranquility. The gardens are lovely and give you the feel of a true Sri Lankan village. The pool is excellent and perfect for cooling off after a long day of adventuring. We stayed in one of the tree-houses and this was what the kids loved the most. The bathroom is exposed (slightly) to the jungle, giving you the sense that you really are living in the jungle. Expect a few small critters in the bathroom from time to time (little frogs, geckos etc), but nothing dangerous or scary and it really adds to the feel of the resort. The food here is also incredible. $10(USD) per head for dinner (kids $5) and you get the most authentic Sri Lankan dinner you could ask for. Everything is cooked fresh in a proper, traditional Sri Lanka kitchen and you can really taste the quality and freshness of everything. Worth every cent! And just when you think it can't get better, it does the next morning with a truly perfect Sri Lankan breakfast. Fresh appa (hoppers) cooked in front of you, with all the proper accompaniments, as well as other traditional Sri Lankan breakfast foods. Again, all fresh and properly cooked, leaving you very full and very satisfied!! Finally, as you would come to expect in Sri Lanka, the staff here are so friendly and helpful and really go out of their way to make your stay as good as it can be. We loved our time here and will definitely be back in the future, but for even longer next time!!

Such an amazing, beautiful resort. I feel completely safe & secluded, & am surrounded by beautiful flora & fauna. The pool & jacuzzi are to die for, & the tree houses are clean & comfortable. An incredible hotel, designed & built by the owner, who will happily chat with you while you have dinner

A nice, small resort in a jungle area which is managed by a family. We lived in a tree house with an open bathroom. You can’t get much closer to the nature. It’s not for everybody, but I loved it. The AC didn’t work, but all in all, it was not a big problem and we had a very pleasant stay. The food was very good (selfmade, home recipes) and we loved the pool/gym area.
