We returned this year to Vantaris Palace where we had already stayed in 2016. We traveled as a family with our 8 year old daughter (this year). Firstly, the location of the hotel is ideal for those who love long, gently sloping sandy beaches. Please note that it can happen that the flag is red for several days in a row, which was the case during our stay (3 days): Kavros beach is known to be customary for this reason (but especially in the month 'august). Then take the opportunity to go to the neighboring Kournas Lake (by small train) and/or visit Chania, Rethymno or Heraklion (bus stop near the hotel). Speaking of the beach, we were pleasantly surprised (compared to 2016) to see that the deckchairs and umbrellas were now free for all-inclusive guests (as was the in-room safe), which is not still not mentioned in the hotel descriptions from tour operators. The beach bar allows you to hydrate at any time of the day without almost moving from your deckchair, which is very pleasant. Beach towels are provided (in the room). We were accommodated on the second and last floor (with elevator) with a pleasant sea view (not "seafront") in the morning for a fairly low additional cost. The room is large, renovated, with an empty mini-bar (lack of staff, we were told). However, you can use the latter after having collected free bottles of water (in an all-inclusive formula) from the hotel's various bars. Cleaning is done every morning. On the other hand, we do not recommend WiFi (payable, 1 euro per day), the speed of which was very reduced (at least in our room). In terms of catering, we found a very wide and interesting choice in the morning and evening (but much smaller at lunchtime, a large part of the clientele undoubtedly being half-board). The cuisine is good with lots of Greek dishes (starters and desserts) and, for the record, fresh orange juice every morning. A small downside on the meat (no beef, mainly pork and chicken, except duck breast one evening). The animation is extremely gentle (nothing during the day, live music in the evening). In conclusion, we really liked the hotel (even more than in 2016) and we plan to return despite the 2 hours transfer from the airport (this is the price to pay for the sandy beach of Kavros !). The value for money is very reasonable, certainly the best among the hotels in Kavros this year, now with a "real" all-inclusive formula. If the club formula is not essential for you, we recommend it.
