Captain's at the Bay

Captain's at the Bay

Apollo Bay|0.33km from city centre
The hotel is composed of U-shaped small courtyards, two small two-story buildings and two bungalows. The location is opposite to the Apollo Bay Visitor Center. It is easy to find when you cross the road and enter. Due to the new crown, no breakfast is provided during this time. The four-star facilities, the courtyard and the rooms are decorated in style and warm, but the most perfect service is the super five-star service. The owner, Duncan, is really a super warm-hearted grandpa. When we arrived, the air-conditioning was turned on in advance, and the room was so comfortable that it was cool, and then, knowing that we were here by Vline, he offered free time and was willing to drive us around this town. Second We were sitting in his car and went to the Maverick viewing platform. At the foot of the mountain, he also showed us the places where koalas were infested. Two lazy little cuties were sleeping in the trees. It was really great! Looking at the panoramic view of Apollo from the viewing platform, it is four words: Wonderland on earth. OMG, it's really a wonderland. Fortunately, I chose to stay in Apollo Bay for 2 days! It's fortunate to meet Grandpa Duncan with angelic love in this beautiful place! Thank you for your hospitality, we will definitely come again! Note: Bring your own toothpaste, toothbrush, slippers, and other toiletries. Every room has chocolates, cookies, and coffee from the host, so sweet.

Marengo Holiday Park

Marengo Holiday Park

Apollo Bay|2.44km from city centre
From this Ken, some sweet reflections 23/8/23: It's not Surfers Paradise (& thanks for that) but here at the front wide window of the best cabin at Marengo, on a sharp-breezed but sunny August morning, there's something black (& maybe deadly)slowly creeping against the rough white waves betwixt a scruffy beach & those ragged rocks covered in indolent seals. Often the rude question rises: What do those seals do for a living? The trevally rarely leap up to be devoured! But I did see a real fisherman take two with a double-hooked light line (I wonder what they taste like?) Mostly I wonder, rather than wander, in this last blast of winter, although we are blessed by 3 days of fine sunshine, when shaded from the shade & dressed according to the time of day. That endlessly engaging distraction of light, movement, & always the underlying symphony of surf moves me away from urban life & that endless list of what ”must” be done ASAP. On this one of many journeys to Marengo Family Caravan Park, perhaps 3 hours from Brunswick if you can't help pausing at the wonderful opp shop in Anglesea, best achieved along the Great Ocean Road, by a seriously skilled driver, whose passengers are always gazing left, just in case a wonderful whale is glimpsed, we feel that slight anxiety about unlikely flat tires. The mood completely converts to joyful anticipation as we pass through the ”big smoke” of Apollo Bay - urban concerns fade & the gently rural context of ocean & forest completely converts hard times to a soft escape. On other visits to this few days of new life we have generally travelled to someplace or other & clear advice is always available from the office. This time we chose wisely to firmly alter our existence & simply soaked into an always interesting landscape. Oh, & the black & beautiful curiosity turns out to have two long ”fins” which are the paddling arms of a single surfer, in full wet suit, confidently moving out to where that magic ride can be sought. He went out of sight, around the point, to larger forces, but was seen later returning to his car, board in hand, & slightly surprised by my gestures of congratulation. The journey to Marengo is endless delights, but the happy holiday, renews energy, subdues concern, & provides a better path ahead.

Best Western Apollo Bay Motel & Apartments

We were overall very pleased with our stay here. From when I rung with questions before booking online (& then booked over phone instead) to when we left, we were looked after well by Anna & another female receptionist (whose name I did not catch). Our room was very clean, in particular the bathroom, which was a priority for us. Basic modern room, which is all we needed. Location was fantastic. We would just all bring our own pillows should we stay again in the future to help improve our sleep quality, as although the beds were comfy none of us felt the pillows were.

This is a lovely plce for a weekend getaway. We stayed here with our friends this weekend and the owner is lovely and very knowledgable on the area. He can't do enough for you. Great place for a group of friends to stay and there is a nice living area with fire for pre dinner drinks and to relax. Very clean and the use of a well stocked kitchen. Thanks for a lovely weekend. Sandpiper Motel Apollo Bay

I booked this hotel based on the reviews I read on TA and Google. I made the right decision. The location is very good, short 5 minute walk to the beachfront, restaurants and grocery stores. I had a ground floor room, very clean, adequate furniture for 2 people with 2 chairs, work desk and outdoor table and chairs. It’s not 5 star, but you shouldn’t expect that with the price. Bed was comfortable, hot water aplenty but it does take a few minutes to come through the pipes. I extended the booking and the owner was happy to offer a discount. Would I stay again - YES
YHA Apollo Bay Eco

Staying at a youth hostel for the first time, because the surrounding hotels can not be booked, just try it out. Some were unexpectedly good. Especially the kitchen facilities, it feels a bit newly renovated. Unfortunately, no cooking was done. The beds were clean. Opening the window is a lawn where you can sit outside and drink. Just a few more steps is where my car stops. The toilets and bathing areas are also very clean, the only thing that is less likely to be in line.
Angela's Beach Stays

The hotel is not far from the center of Apollo town, just a few minutes drive away. Because it was Christmas Eve, many restaurants and shops in the town were closed, and the supermarkets were not closed. Free parking The front desk of the hotel is on the first floor. It is a Chinese boy with a very good attitude. He gave us a map and showed us where to see the scenic spots. After checking the name, he gave the key to check in without deposit. The balcony and bathroom are not small, and the bedroom is a bit small, with only one large bed, and can only accommodate 2 people. The room looks out to the sea, there are refrigerators, microwaves, hot water kettles, towels, bathing supplies, no kitchen can not cook, this is a bit inconvenient Check out at 10 in the morning, put the key on the coffee table, and have free wifi
The Apollo

The Apollo Apartments in Apollo Bay is a fantastic place to lay your head for the night. All of the apartments are fully self contained. Close to pubs, restaurants and shops and the beautiful Apollo Bay Beach across the road There is onsite parking available underneath the units. There is a lift if you have trouble using stairs. The staff never mentioned it though and just said where the stairs were. If you have issues using stairs this may not be the best place to stay if the lift was not available. Overall it was great value and a very nice and tidy apartment. You could easily base yourself here and do all of the Great Ocean Road touristy things.
