A lovely place. We we're a bit iffy on sraying due to the rating of the hotel but after reading the reviews most were about the rooms being dated. Since we were only planning to be there for a night, who cares? There was an issue with the booking from Trip.com's side which the duty manager Declan was able to resolve in a timely mannor while also making the wait very pleasant with some nice chat. The staff were lovely, including the two young ladys on the bar/food service as well as Declan. Unfortunately didnt get the girls names. The building is stunning and surrounded by lovely woods, perfect for a walk. Rooms are a bit dated, sure, but why are you looking to spend all your time in your room? More than enough to have a comfy sleep in. Also as a side note on that, id imagine It's a listed building and so hard an expensive to update. Overall a lovely night and a pleasant morning having breakfast then a walk. Absolutely would recommend.

Well what an absolutely beautiful building!!! Gorgeous place. We definitely got value for money and if we stay in Nottingham again, we'll definitely stay here again. The staff were so nice, the rooms were a bit basic but so what? You don't come to stay to sit in your room all day! Such a feel good place, I highly recommend.

I can not praise the Manager, Bar Manager, Receptionist and the rest of the staff enough at this beautiful hotel. Everyone, especially the Manager went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful. If you haven't been your missing out, the building is full of history with plenty of information on hand, the food is excellent and the rooms are gorgeous with extensive grounds to explore.

We had our wedding reception here in April 24. The team created the most special evening for us! From the moment we met Brenton he took everything off our shoulders and did not disappoint. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and our guests commented how much they enjoyed it, the bridal suite was delightful and felt very cosy. Every member of staff we encountered were very friendly and could not support us enough! Thank you Bestwood lodge for helping us create the most amazing day!

We arrived and were only 1 of 4 cars in the car park, after reading this review you will know why! We checked in at 2pm by a very laid back gentleman who seamed to have all the time in the world, we had to be at a wedding in 45 mins and I happened to mention that we were in a hurry because we needed to be there on time. I thought nothing of the comment at the time. We were informed that we had been “upgraded” to the king Edward suite. When we got to the room it was awful and can only be compared to faulty towers! Marks on the old fashioned furniture, 70’s style pelmet over bed with matching curtains and an old stained sofa which quite frankly needs to go to the tip! My husband had a shower and the riser bar broke off but that was the least of his problems as the water was scolding hot, he quickly jumped out and flashed to whoever was outside as there was no privacy glass in the bathroom! We complained about the room and the gentleman who checked us in was actually the manager, he said we couldn’t have a refund and that he wasn’t happy that I was rude to him when we checked in, not sure what that has to do with it plus I didn’t think I was rude, just making a comment about how we were in a rush. I think somebody would benefit from going on a customer service course because his unprofessionalism was just shocking! We finally moved rooms but it wasn't the one we were promised, third time lucky as they say. We finally got into one of the newly refurbished rooms, that neither was of a particularly great standard however it was clean. The lady who showed us to breakfast and checked us out was lovely. I think the manager needs to take a leaf out of her book. Overall if you’re looking at staying at this hotel save your money and go to the premier inn down the road!

Not a Best Western hotel it is an independent hotel....check out the reviews on the actual Bestwood Lodge Hotel page. Beautiful grounds, shabby rooms terrible management. Severe incident scarred my memories of what should have been a special day!!!!!!! Staff are very good but also very frightened of management

Building is really something as are the grounds; Staff were really helpful and they all worked hard to give us a night of such fun . Yes sure the rooms do let it down but for the price something has to give... You would pay £200 + a night for upgraded rooms or more and all we did was collapse after 13 hrs of Wedding and Party so what a waste that would be . Breakfast was fine, basic, but certainly had worse for a lot more. Keep your expectations under control and just enjoy it ! Staff were outstanding

One of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in, stunning historical site, great service too. Warm, wood fire burning on a cold snowy day in February. nothing too much trouble including Wi-Fi and meeting spaces. Will definitely visit again
