The Chatsworth Hotel

Good Hotel.. It will be very helpful if cash is accepted instead of card only. Furthermore, the laundry service should be brought back and availability of microwave.

Very accommodating hotel. Service was excellent. Had a nice big room. Will b goin bk in a months time.

Friendly staff and great location.

This lovely traditional hotel sits on the sea front located near to the beach restaurants and town. There can be some noise from the road and the floors and bathroom extractor fans are quite noisy. Staff were very polite and helpful. We were able to take our dog into our room and breakfast once ordered taken to our room to eat.

The floors were uneven and the amenities limited in the room. The breakfast was mediocre

On the morning of the 15th, I went to take a shower before heading off, and there was no hot water. I tried the shower and the bath taps, and neither ran hot water. This was around 7:45am. I went down to reception and told them at about 8:15am. They told me to try again and leave the water running for a while. They then said if that also didn't work, it might be better in about an hour or I could maybe take into another room to see if the hot water worked there. This latter offer was not helpful to me as I needed to leave at a certain time. I went back to my room, I left it for a while and tried again at 8:32am. I ran the tap for about 10 minutes, there was no change. Please see the photos below. The hot water was cold. I ended up having to leave with no shower.  The staff on the reception were polite and apologetic.  However, considering the price of this hotel, I feel it is not acceptable to have no hot water in the morning. I asked at the time of my stay if I could have some refunded amount due to my inconvenience. I was told this was not possible and that I had to write back to the hotel. I did ask to speak to any management or to be given any management details, and I was told nobody was available, and there were no contact details for any management. There was also no complaint system.

Friendly and helpful staff but a small and awful room : pinched and poorly furnished; with a distinct and very unpleasant stale fag smell; the most basic possible bed and mattress; a boulder-size and rock hard pillow; a damaged door frame; and a shower which we had to get the receptionists help to turn off (she needed both hands to wrench the faucet closed and said that a number of guests had had the same problem - and presumably not just in Room 136). More a 1950s English Seaside Hotel heritage experience than accommodation which is of a standard which the vast majority of guests would expect of a supposedly 3☆ hotel today

The hotel is a bit tired and need of some tlc. The mattress was pretty lumpy and squeaky which was not the best, considering we both have bad backs. Our breakfast was cold and the coffee was stewed so overall not the best experience. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
