Hotels with Bars in Arusha

Although the gardens look nice, the lobby and rooms are nice, that is about where it ends. The housekeeping standards and service quality issues leave a lot to be desired. I travel enough that I know what a reliable standard is - and this hotel isn’t it. A laundry list of problems shows that the staff is not properly trained and the management over housekeeping and rooms is not training their staff properly or not. Checking their work in the rooms, or both. A sample of the issues: - room not cleaned or serviced all day. - towels not replaced and left with none - carelessly letting window curtains get caught in sliding door so that air conditioning won’t go on - No potable water left in the room At all - Broken air conditioning - doorknobs missing on the drawers - not answering the phone at guest services after multiple tries - stains on upholstered furniture - Stains on “clean” towels - dry rough and worn towels worthy of a 2 * hotel - lack of hot water in the shower And the list goes on… How can a hotel that holds itself out at this level have such bad service quality details? Doubt I will be back here for a visit, but I have had similar bad experiences at other gran Meliá properties, so is there a pattern here on lower housekeeping and room standards? Wifi was good. Bed was a bit too firm. Had a work desk and large panel TV. Small safe available in room as well.

The environment is beautiful, clean and hygienic, the front desk is very good and late check-out until two o'clock in the afternoon, breakfast is not very rich, but you can eat. Tanzan blue is sold in the lobby but there are not many varieties. The most important thing is that when the hotel goes out and turns left along the wall, there is a Chinese restaurant. It takes less than five minutes to walk. The owner is a Shanghainese. The food is cheap and delicious. The owner also does tourism projects and is very nice.

Very well maintained hotel. Nicely positioned in Arusha. Room was excellent and fully equipped. 210 plugs, so bring you adapter if traveling from US. Iron, board, slippers, robes, fully stocked bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. Excellent stay. Full English breakfast and more, with Indian and Middle Eastern style additions. Fruit, pastries, everything. Roof top restaurant bar pool is a great place to relax and the food is very affordable and great quality. Hotel staff was some of the best ever from my global travels.

This is a beautiful old coffee plantation estate turned into a hotel. The main building is the bar, reception, restaurant. The rooms are beautiful 'hut' dispersed around the property. We got there at midnight after traveling from Amsterdam and were surprised by a delicious hot meal! Our waiter, Zainab, cheerfully welcomed us to Arusha and Tanzania (karibu - welcome). All the meals were excellent, good selections of wine, all staff friendly and helpful. Grounds were beautiful with monkeys running around. One of the gardeners took us around to see their kitchen garden and 5 different kinds of bananas! Rooms beautifully appointed with mosquito netting, lots of hot water, beautiful view of the grounds. Wonderful place to recuperate from many plane rides.

The room is clean and tidy, the front desk service is very enthusiastic, the breakfast dishes are rich, and the location of the hotel is also good. It is very suitable for business trips. I will consider staying next time I come to Istanbul.

We had our daughter’s second birthday party here, while on a journey driving around the world. For what we have experienced in much of Africa, it’s quite good, as it’s more organized, clean and accommodating than average by far, though still there’s more to grow on. I have noticed that many Africans still do not completely understand what it is to be of service, but clearly there is more of a vibe of *I’ll help when I must.* or *I’ll do what I have to, to keep my job.* There are plenty of hints of complacency and a *I don’t really desire to be here, this is for the money.* kind of vibe. The place would benefit greatly to “run a fine tooth comb” through it, clean up all the trash hiding in the cracks and crevices, train the employees how to be genuinely happy to help and bring attention to the details that make an establishment worthy of five stars, as well as take care and fix the toys and items throughout the park that are broken or nearly so to really show the love and value. Overall I’m grateful for the experience and I’m sure your kids will enjoy the space.

Highly recommend this lodge!! My grandmother and I were in Arusha for 8 days, and spent most of our nights at Malkia. The staff was so wonderful - Albert and Neema were the ones I spoke to the most and they were kind and so accommodating. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the food was delicious. Everything is made fresh to order, and the chef was so kind and helpful as well! A good example is that we left very early for safari and for the airport, and even though it was before their breakfast hours started, we were always sent off with breakfast to go, full of hot fresh food and it was always delicious!
