Lodge at the Old Barracks

This was my second stay at this venue whilst I was in Athenry to meet up with various members of my family. Everything about this place is wonderful. I had a suite with kitchen and separate bathroom. It was immaculately clean and modern with good quality furnishings and crockery. The breakfasts were excellent with polite, friendly and very efficient service (I particularly liked the Mexican breakfast tacos!) I was unable to use the restaurant as I was entertained by family all 4 days, but I purchased the most incredible cakes (my hosts words not mine) from the outlet shop in the hotel. I will be returning to stay here on my next visits to Athenry and have recommended the venue to other family members.

When we arrived at the hotel, Scott, the owner, was there to greet us and help carry our bags up to the room. The room was clean and bright, welcoming, and included complementary fudge! The food for breakfast and dinner at the attached restaurant was fantastic. The pizza oven made the most wonderful and delicious pizzas. The chicken Caesar salad was the best I’ve had in a long, long time. The chicken was very soft and fresh. I went back the next day for another chicken caesar salad and it was just as good as the day before. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend The Lodge at the Old Barracks to anyone visiting Athenry, Galway, or other nearby cities.

Spacious room with large ensuite and shower. Host most welcoming and helped us with our bags upstairs, booked our table in the great pizza restaurant downstairs. He also gave us a little history of the barracks. A nice touch was the 3 little sweet cakes near our bed. 😊. Would highly recommend a stay here and a visit to this lovely heritage village. Breakfast was included and a la carte. Great food and all staff most welcoming and helpful.

A fabulous room in the middle of the village. Restaurant/cafe where you also checked in across the street. Good food and very friendly staff.

Circumstances meant that we were staying in Athenry for an extended period of time. We have stayed previously in one of their delightful rooms, this time we rented a suite, it was just perfect. Designed for short stays it absolutely fitted the bill for a longer stay. Everything was amazing, tasteful and beautifully decorated with quality furnishings, bedding, crockery and towels. The kitchen was kitted out to a high standard with all the appliances you could need, the sofa was comfy along with a super comfy bed. It was just the place to relax and cook on days we weren’t eating in one of The Old Barracks restaurants. Over the past few months we have felt part of The Old Barracks ‘family’. There are moments in your life that change things forever, with living in another country and having to try to navigate a ‘new normal’, the support received by Scott, Damien, Christina and every one of the team has been amazing. Our circumstances have been fairly unique, however for whatever reason you choose to stay at The Old Barracks, you will be warmly and genuinely welcomed. An amazing team of people delivering the very best.

Cozy, comfortable and clean room with a pizza restaurant and bakery downstairs, parking in the back, and breakfast at their cafe across the street. We stayed here so we could easily drive up to Galway for the day and then get out to the Cliffs of Moher next morning as early as possible. Checked off all our boxes.

Such a cute lodge and the included breakfast was so good. The pizzeria nearby was a hit for us as well. Thank you to Scott for making himself and his staff available for a later check in as we had some car issues that delayed us. They responded promptly and the check in staff was awesome! Would highly recommend. You definitely get your money worth at this location.

Myself and my friends stayed in one of the apar**ents a few weeks ago, and it was pure luxury. The place was spotlessly clean and cosy. The décor was so pretty and the apar**ent kitted out so well, with anything you might want or need. We had planned to eat in their pizzeria across the road, but as we were so comfortable opted for takeaway instead. The food (and cocktails we drank waiting) were delicious. We played some movies in the background on the smart TV and it was just perfect for catching up. The next morning, i went to the hairdressers just down the road followed by a tasty breakfast in café below the apar**ent. I had a breakfast bap, but there was glow reports about the Mexican breakfast and the vegetarian option. Bed, breakfast and dinner was all so reasonable and I was disappointed when we were leaving as it was such a lovely hub. I live local enough to hear and the owner and all the workers are always so kind and cheerful. Its a lovely business and i would recommend it in a heartbeat.
