Clarion Pointe Athens I-65

We were looking for a decent basic motel for our stay on the way to Gulf Shores. Clarion Pointe seemed to fit the bill. Pros: The woman at the front desk was very cordial and accomodated our requirements for an upstairs room. The breakfast choices were very satisfactory. Beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Cons: After we checked into our room, I decided to take a shower. It was then that I discovered TWO large insects on the bathroom floor (photos below). I immediately called the fromt desk, who moved us to another room. I asked the woman to have the manager call me about the matter. A week went by without a call. I contacted the manager a week later, and he indicated in an email that he would issue a partial refund in consideration of our experience. After several weeks of delays and excuses, I concluded that he was simply stalling, hoping that I would give up. When I gave him a final date to settle the matter, he ceased communicating. Not sure whether I am more upset about the bug-infested room or the manager's failure to keep his word. If you stay here and encounter a problem, don't count on the manager being overly concerned about it.

Our room is cozy, clean and perfect. Stocked well! The lady checked us in easy and sweet! I paid online and transaction was easy as well. Very kind receptionist. The breakfast was very good and lots of healthy items to choose from. (Also, sweets, sausage, eggs, gravy.. The pool is a good size and looks crystal clear. The coffee is delicious and the receptionist is making sure that it stays full! We will come back. ❤️

This was a wonderful hotel with a budget price. I feel a bit uncertain about giving a budget-priced hotel an "Excellent" review but this was an exception. Of course it doesn't have a spa or a doorman, but it was clean, comfortable, and the staff were cheerful.

Rooms advertised as renovated but bathrooms were forgotten. Mold everywhere and had management walk in room with one knock not hesitation. Just wanted a clean room for overnight stay on road trip. Will not be back

The room was the most clean I’ve ever seen, the staff was extremely friendly and ready to help. I’ve never had such a nice breakfast for the price which was extremely reasonable. I would recommend this for anyone.

The cleanest hotel we have stayed in and the outside maintenance picked up cigarette butts and papers around the property every morning. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. We are from Canada and stayed here 10 days as we liked it so much. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping around and the location is perfect, right off I65 on US 72. They had the outdoor pool open in April and people were swimming in it. Most hotels the pool area doesn't open until sometime in May. I walk everyday and there was a lot of room around the property and it was safe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, including the housekeeping and grounds keeper.

This property was located close to the interstate so it was an easy on and off. We had a clean and comfortable unit, that was a big plus. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast had the usual choices. However, the price was overly high ($180); not sure why. Price point for this unit was not justified. That put a damper on our experience.

Dated, in need of a refresh. Grimy corners in rooms, etc. Sink slow to drain. Shower lever wouldn't go full to get full pressure. Coffee maker didn't work. Person at desk was on the phone the whole time during check-in. Liked that we could park right in front of the room, decent area for the dog. Breakfast normal hotel fare, not bad. Stayed here twice, probably will spend more next time to get a better experience.
