Was told we were given a remodeled room in building C. What they should have said was that it is in the process of being remodeled- literally during our stay. When we walked in, the light-switch didn’t turn on any lights. We had to plug in the microwave to use it and learned that the main light switch at the door was turning the power on/off to the microwave which randomly beeped until we unplugged it. The bedding was stiff and scratchy. It felt very cheap. Hotel bedding should be soft and comfortable. The bathroom had no bar soap, no toiletries for the sink or shower, we had to call for some. There was also loud construction (saw or drill) early Sunday morning going on down the other hallway. The entrance was in the back of the building with dumpsters overflowing. $300, what a huge disappointment.

I had to move furniture to plug the TV in, and no coffee for the coffee maker. They are under major renovations, which I didn’t know when making my reservation, and at 1130pm I had to call the desk to tell them the works music was so loud the floor below. Not worth the $$$, at this time.

Recently stayed at the OU Inn. On the upside they’ve almost finished remodeling all their rooms (the remodeled ones are quite nice.). Also, I always find the staff here to be super nice and accommodating. Ate breakfast and dinner at their restaurant and food was well prepared. Parking is also a breeze, and they are close to the highway. The one odd thing is that if you are staying for an extended period, they only fully clean rooms and change linens every 7 days which seems a bit long to me. They also still have mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion (no body wash) along with the mini bars of soap. Most hotels have moved away from this approach because of the environmental waste. Still the best place to stay in Athens, but a new boutique hotel is on the horizon for uptown.

We stayed here for two while we were moving our son into Ohio University. The hotel was perfect. We felt like we fit right in with other guests and staff members, almost like home. There were always people in the lobby sitting area chatting and laughing. We had an amazing dinner at the pub, and breakfast at the restaurant, both which delivered on great service. The hotel is definitely old, but clean and charming. Our room was comfortable, and we slept well. I would recommend having king size pillows instead of standard size ones for the king size bed we slept in. They weren’t quite big enough. We will definitely stay here again while visiting our son.

Staff friendly. Common areas OK. Restaurant very good. Rooms way overdue for updating. POLICY of not cleaning rooms, making beds, replacing towels, etc unacceptable. I did ask for clean towels; got towels placed on bed, but the dirty ones left on bathroom floor. It is a poor reflection on the University itself. Not like any other similar college or university hotel I've visited. As the owner, OU ought to be ashamed.

Everything about our experience was good. My only complaint is about their lack of awareness concerning our planet. As an institution affiliated with the university, I would have expected them to be leaders in recycling, in energy conservation, in education, in sustainability, but there was no evidence at all of an awareness of these issues.
