Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin Northwest/The Domain Area

Located about 30 min from the airport and 20 min from downtown Austin, not the most centrally located for going to Austin, but plenty of things to do nearby. This fairfield is definitely not the newest, decent size lobby, efficient enough check-in. Parking lot is nicely sized so no issues there. Oh, breakfast is always decent Marriott budget solid - really enjoy the waffles. Rooms are typical budget fairfield - somewhat thin sheets, comfortable enough bed. Rooms are actually decently spacious, bathroom is small but usable. Didn't have too much noise at night keeping me up so isolated well enough (but also not super busy when I went). Wi-fi worked well.

When we walk in, we are greeted with a smile by name and we instantly feel so welcomed. The staff is always friendly and property well kept. Octavia, Christian and the rest of the staff get 10 stars!! Breakfasts are excellent with variety of food and drinks. Thank you for making our stay so great. We have choices, but will always stay here when we are in Austin.

The check-in and out was smooth. Our stay is ok, the room is quite small but bed is comfy. The breakfast option was nice but the next day, we woke up a bit late, we joined buffet breakfast at 8:30AM but most of the food were gone and was not replaced. The location is good, near N. Lamar Ave and I-35 which is accesible to Downtown Austin.

Listen, I don’t usually mind Fairfield Inns. I appreciate the lower cost for a standard good restaurant. But I had a pretty terrible experience here. The staff was friendly and helpful and try to accommodate me but the problem is that there was no cure for the problem. Let’s just say you need to stay away from the 2nd floor. The first room I got smelled like mold and the mini fridge made an awful hissing noise, which I knew would be a problem for a light sleeper like myself. But the smell was the worst. So I asked to get a different room, which the gentleman helping me was kind enough to search for but could only find a room on the same floor. So I went to my new room hoping it would be better. But nope. It was a 2nd floor issue. The room smell was just as bad. But at this point there were no other rooms open, according to the front desk. So I settled in that dreadful room, with a splitting headache from the awful smell. I even brought some co-workers to come smell the room and make sure I wasn’t going crazy. They were staying on the 4th floor and had no issue with smell, but immediately recognized that my room smelled awful. Now, the rooms were fine, although there’s barely any decor (maybe because they ended up putting me in an accessible room and they might not decorate it as usual there), but it was sterile and I felt like I was staying in a hospital. To make matters worse, my 3rd night there my mini fridge started making a hissing noise in the middle of the night. So loud I had to just unplug the fridge from the wall. Please get higher quality mini fridges! So, no, I don’t recommend this hotel. The breakfast was fine. I always enjoy the waffle maker but you can get those in most similar hotels.
