This is a well presented hotel, although situated over 1km from anything interesting in Cascais. It is still in the middle of an area that is developing, and, therefore less attractive. The view to the sea is good, although there are a few roads between the hotel and the beach. The staff were a bit variable in how interactive or helpful they were. Breakfast was not amazing, (microwaved scrambled eggs, no fresh juice), although ample. The pool wasn’t open early enough for working visitors who needed to leave before 9. There were two events that put me off this hotel forever. At one breakfast, every little jam pot at my table had been used (yeurch) and just left there by the breakfast staff On the last day, there was no water and staff were of no use whatsoever. This is probably just an unfortunate event, but no breakfast was served and all guests were very seriously inconvenienced. For the money, I expected better.

I chose to stay at this hotel due to my admiration for its design and decoration. The meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the entire establishment. The concept strikes a perfect balance, not overly luxurious yet not too understated—a delightful middle ground for those who appreciate it. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, creating a welcoming atmosphere. While the hotel is brand new, offering a modern look and feel, some services are still in the process of getting fully operational. I particularly enjoy the pleasant fragrance inside. I highly recommend the rooftop pool! The panoramic views of the coastline are breathtaking. With sunny and warm weather during my stay, I took the opportunity to plunge into the pool, creating a December experience that felt like summer. This is a very mixed review. The hotel is beautiful overall and steeped in history. The public areas are very nice and there are lots of interesting corners to relax in. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff very pleasant. However, we booked a superior room which cost nearly 250 euros per night, and we did not enjoy a superior experience. The balcony terrace area was lovely, overlooking the forest, but despite there being plenty of room there were just two upright chairs out there. A table and sun loungers would have made it so much better and more comfortable. The room itself was small and dark, and the bathroom in dire need of renovation. There was a large crack in the basin and black marks in the bath, and everything just very tired. Because of this, it didn't feel very clean. The beds were uncomfortable with very bouncy mattresses, so we did not sleep well. We expected a lot more from such an expensive stay and the label 'superior room'. This was not a five-star experience.

We had a great time during our 5 night stay at the Vila Gale Sintra. I’ll start with the pros of the resort. The property itself is beautiful. The pools, the scenery around the hotel are amazing. The family room layout was great for us. It was essentially what appeared to be what used to be two rooms combined into one. The large balcony was great for sitting out at night. The sunset was spectacular from our room. The kids activities were great as my kids got to enjoy the carousel, playground and trampoline park. Be aware though that they only open these at certain times throughout the day. The breakfast was great and had a ton of selections. There were a few cons, the first was the buffet dinner. It was quite expensive at 29 euros per person and the options werent great. They only really had one meat and one fish that they were cooking and there was a line to wait in if you wanted it. We only ate dinner there the first night. The room was partially refurbished. The carpet looked older and the sliding door within the room kept coming off the tracks. And the bathroom was a little odd in that the vanity was open to the rest of the room. So if someone needed to use the lights for it they would light potentially wake up the person in the room if they were sleeping. Then the WiFi, while it worked well for the most part, kept having to reconnect to the network. This happened on both my phone and iPad several times each day while I was there. The location of the hotel has its pluses and minuses. It is a quiet resort away from the city of Sintra. And it’s also located in a place that makes it easy to get to the beach and Colares. But there isn’t anything else right around the hotel so you need to rent a car or take an Uber to get around. We took and Uber and it did work pretty well. Nothing is within walking distance and the nearest bus stop is a 20-30 minute walk away.

Very good breakfast and the pool and golf course. In general, the best location of the hotel. The room was a bit small for four people and some nights it smelled a bit bad I think it was an air conditioning problem

This hotel was perfect for our stay in central Sintra, and is located within a short walking distance to great restaurants, music, and quaint shopping. The rooms were spacious, well appointed, and very clean. A full Breakfast was included and provided a delicious selection of hot & cold items, local pastries, fresh fruits and friendly service. Highly recommend this hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff.
