Hotel Melodia del Bosco

Badia|0.18km from city centre
Me and a friend stayed at the Melodia whilst cycling - what an amazing hotel! I’ll start by saying that the star rating system needs a refresh - this place is more like a 5* than it’s 3*, the decor is modern, everything is well kept and has a luxury feel, but the real stand out feature is the food… incredible. Food: Each night there is a different menu of 4 courses, the chefs have made a serious effort and it shows (I’ll add pictures). I really love that it’s not a buffet style, it makes it feel much more special and like a restaurant. Breakfast is plenty of cereals, fruit, pastries etc with hot items like eggs available fresh to order - you won’t go hungry. Through the day there is a small selection of sandwiches available to buy at the bar. Rooms: We had a twin room on the front of the hotel, the room was huge in my opinion, shower and bath with separate toilet, plenty of suitcase and wardrobe space. Cleaned each day by super friendly staff. Spa: open from 14:00 to early evening, it’s 3 saunas, a steam room and waterfall showers - with a room connected with relaxing music and waterbeds - we used it a LOT after days out on the bike. It was never that busy and again really well kept and modern. Bike hire: We hired directly from the hotel and would recommend - the on-site mechanic Uwe was amazing, making adjustments for us where needed and attaching our own pedals etc. There’s an area to wash the bikes with all the kit and cleaning products, and a secure storage garage where you have to get the key from reception - I’d be happy to leave my own bike there and know it’d be safe. Location: In the little area there wasn’t a HUGE amount but we did wander along to the Badia Pub - worth a visit. For cycling it was ideal, 7km from Corvara where a lot of the routes started, or already on the way north if you wanted ti head that way. I think if you stayed in Corvara or La Villa your legs wouldn’t thank you for no warm up before the climbs… Staff: Lastly the staff who deserve a special mention: Everyone we chatted to were lovely and helpful, in the restaurant, the bar, the reception: you got a sense of it being a small and caring team - so thank you all for making it a great stay! Will definitely be back!

The oldest farm in Alta Badia - brought to new and exclusive life in 2020.Hundreds of years ago, the first people who settled here were looking for a safe but exposed place with much sun and a view over the whole valley. In the distance, they saw the imposing Marmolada glacier and the Gardenaccia massif even then. Seven hundred years later, it is you who are allowed to discover this magical place - in the absolute peace and security of the Sotciastel house.Hildegard needs to let the Ladin tradition live on in her house. Then she spared neither effort nor expense to maintain and restore everything. The design of the house and the furnishings underline the historical style. Natural materials and colours harmonize with the original furniture and panelling. The guest can actively participate in the community on the farm - whether cooking, baking or feeding the animals early in the morning. The owner attaches great importance to homemade products such as jams, cakes, bacon and cheese for breakfast.Live like in the past, but at the ultimate top comfort level. The court has been first mentioned by name in 1276 in a document from the Castel Badia monastery in Brunico. The Sotciastel farm is located on a small plateau above San Leonardo, with a view over the valley as far as the Marmolada glacier. Those who are looking for peace, nature and the authentic will not forget this piece of earth.A delicious breakfast is prepared in the open kitchen every morning, a tea break in the afternoon. For the five rooms, we have used the same natural materials throughout, which underline the unique traditional style of the house. Loden, and especially linen, was materials used in very different ways. All the decorations and the pictures in the house come from the old stock. We have restored them, sometimes only re-framed.A highlight is a sauna in the ancient substructure of the house.

Vallata di Gab

Hotel la Majun

Hotel la Majun

La Villa|0.82km from Vallata di Gab
First some context: I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at some of the finest properties around the world so I compare La Majun to these properties(Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, The Savoy, Claridges, etc). I started to plan this vacation back in 2019 for a 2020 visi5. After much research, our family settled on La Majun. Natalie and Maura were always very responsive to my many emails. The trip was Covid delayed until this week. I base my ratings on 5 categories(scale of 1-5, 5 being the top): Cleanliness, accuracy of website, responsiveness of communication, dining experience and overall guest interaction: Cleanliness: 5 The rooms were cleaned everyday and nothing was ever missed. The spa was also incredibly clean (We tried everything - Sauna, steam room, pool, quiet room, and soaking tub). Towels were big and fluffy. Accuracy of website: 5 The pictures on the website were accurate depictions of the room and the views. Responsiveness of communication: 5 Obviously, I had a lot of questions over the last three years of planning. Every email was answered and every request was executed. At times, a few days would go by without a response but I knew eventually, a reply would be offered. This was mostly during their off season. Natalie and Maura did NOT miss ONE email. Dining experience: 5 We opted for the ”half board”. The food was well presented, of high quality and delicious. Several offerings for breakfast (try the make your own juicer)and dinner was always presented with a fish, meat and vegetarian offering. Service was top notch (thank you to Melina and Ale) Overall guest interaction: 500! Natalie and her Mom Roberta fully understand what it takes to make guests people feel welcome. I asked Natalie how she manages to train her staff and she told me that she tells every staff member the following: ”Treat each guest as if they were your closest friend coming for a visit in your own home.” EVERY member of the staff did just that! Each morning, we looked forward to seeing Melina and her warm ”good morning.” Each afternoon, Natalie always spoke to us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. A special call out to the other staff who made us feel so welcome: Sacha (bell person - who hugged me goodbye!) Barbara(bar tender - could not have been more pleasant) Ale (waitress-her smile greeted us everyday) Anna (front office - so helpful) Melina (our waitress - so personable and so welcoming) Roberta(Owner): Such a beautiful woman in her soul. And finally Natalie(Owner): Words cannot express how each member of our family feels about Natalie. We love her! She does a flawless job on execution and is genuinely warm in her approach. She is the model as to how every hotel should be run. It is my hope that this review encourages every reader considering a trip to this region to stop looking at reviews and to just book here. Finally, every member of the staff hugged us goodbye. That should tell you a lot!
