Just left Villa Estancia. We’ve probably stayed at a dozen properties in Mexico, mostly Cancun. There is something truly special about this property, intimate, the best personal service we’ve ever had, quiet, old world luxury feel. Rooms: Enormous, I booked a basic room and we had a full 1-bedroom, 2-bath apartment, washer/dryer, kitchen, separate living, huge covered balcony. I believe all are ocean-facing. Interiors old world (not modern/new) but very nice and the most consistent housekeeping service ever (including turndown each night, a rare luxury!) Kids: I love that there were sand toys, boogie boards and blow-up tubes for free. The kids club looked pretty depressing, but our kids refuse to go anyway. Club activity calendar looked like what you expect. No care during dinner hours. Staff is super friendly to your kids. Lots of beach activities too - horses, parasailing, jet skiing, free paddle boards, etc. Pool: Loved it. All activities were next door at Flamingo pool, volleyball, bingo, etc. Absolutely best pool towel and food service. Marcos and Jesus knew us by name by the second day. Best thing - always plenty of chairs (April). Swim up bar. Food: Really good! Not a ton of options/themes like huge resorts, but one of the best steaks we’ve had in Mexico. La Casona was our favorite restaurant. View at sushi and El Paron at Flamingos was beautiful too. Best part - reservations were super easy for us. Even our party of 12. You make them 1-3 day before. Dinners take a looooong time. Recommend the 6pm seating. Portions also huge. If you’re not on meal plan, you can easily share entrees. The staff at Breakfast at Estancia nearly made me cry today, Esmeralda and Paloma brought us a “have a safe trip” cake. Esmeralda knew every morning how all 4 of us liked our mimosas (orange vs. grapefruit), and fresh tortillas from Ildita were incredible. Cannot stress how good the staff all was. You can tell they are used to working with owners, the recognition is incredible and very warming. Events/Activities: You really come for the small intimate vibe here, so not a big theater/show like you get at huge Cancun resorts. One night there was a fabulous beach party, there’s a Michael Jackson show night, our favorite was just the live music. Our last night, one of the waiters at Casona started singing like a Venetian gondolier out of nowhere - like a professional tenor. It was unexpected moments like that. Overall, we don’t return to many properties - but this one is on our short list when we need a relaxing getaway with white-glove service. Keep up the good work!!
