The location is excellent. Although it is in the old city, it can be reached by car at one door. The room is huge and soundproofed, and the breakfast is stylish. If you can book a balcony room, try to book it, after all, it is its characteristic.

The Merchant Hotel is a new luxury hotel in the heart of the old town, right on a pedestrian street lined with cafes and restaurants. We had a luxurious room with a balcony and a view of the local Arbat. We had a delicious morning breakfast. The hotel employs beautiful, smiling people who treat Russians well and always meet any request of the guest.

A very, very good hotel. It is located on the edge of the old town of Baku. The hotel room is large and the supporting facilities are good. There is a small bar downstairs. It is convenient to travel by bus and taxi. It is good.

A wonderful hotel in the old part of the city. Friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful room. The bar and restaurant are great and we enjoyed cocktails and food. It was my husbands birthday and they made a special effort to make our stay even more lovely. We participated in a valentines event in the bar and restaurant and the food and service was excellent. The room was stocked with all we needed for a pleasant stay and it was perfectly located for all the sightseeing we wanted to do. Special mention to Nahid and Abbas and the all staff at the cocktail bar.

We recently stayed in The Merchant Baku for a 3-day visit to Baku. The hotel location was superb as a base to explore all Baku's old town sights and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Special mention to Nahid, Javid, and the rest of the team in the Latitude & Longitude Restaurant & Bar for their wonderful, attentive, and professional service throughout our stay. The breakfast in the Latitude & Longitude was the one of the highlights of our day and provided a perfect start to a busy day of sightseeing. We would strongly recommend The Merchant Baku to other travelers and tourists.

A boutique hotel excellently located in the old town with all the bars and restaraunts close by, a very vibrant atmosphere. Rooms were spacious and well maintained and had all the amenities as required. A lavish breakfast with a wide spread of food and really had to skip or have a very light lunch after this. Great bar and food with a live singer on select days. Excellent staff all around , very courteous and friendly all all went out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Would highly recommend the merchant Baku as a hotel in Baku and is certainly value for money !

I stayed in three hotels during my almost a month stay in Baku. Merchant Baku is easily the best and the most value for money. First, the location is unbeatable. It is just next to the old town and within walking distance to many important sights such as Maiden Tower, the Baku Boulevard, Deniz Mall and the Carpet Museum. Second, the service is excellent. The staff spoke English and were very accommodating. Prasad, one of the reception manager, was very hospitable and someone which you could ask for help anytime. Third, the breakfast spread was good and served in a beautiful dining hall. Shame about the scary painting with the snakes though, I would change that one. Otherwise, the dining hall with the fireplace is picture perfect. Lastly, the rooms are big, comfortable and quiet. The only minor down sides are that (a) Merchant Baku is located in a no-car lane (which leads up to the gates to the Old Town) so your taxi will have to stop at the main road and you would need to lug your luggage for a short distance of about 25 metres. The road is flat and there are no vehicles so lugging your luggages on the road to Baku is easily done. (b) there is no writing desk in the room, so you would need to place your laptop on the small round coffee table if you want to get some work done. All in all, if there is one comfortable hotel that you are looking to stay in Baku with helpful staff and accessible to most of the sights, this is it.

Position is great. You can walk to nizami street. Breakfast is good. We tried salmon in their restaurant one evening, which was really good too. But I feel they need to improve their hospitality. Or maybe we are used to Indian hospitality! Otherwise great hotel

A Disappointing and Heartbreaking Experience at a Hotel That Failed All My Expectations I arrived at this hotel with high hopes, influenced by the high ratings that led me to believe I would have a wonderful stay. Unfortunately, my experience turned out to be shocking and utterly disappointing. Upon arrival, the check-in process was extremely slow and disorganized, leaving me feeling unwelcome, especially in comparison to other guests, notably Europeans, who were served quickly and courteously. After a long wait, I was surprised by the unprofessional behavior of a staff member who insisted on canceling my first night’s reservation and demanded full payment again, despite my request to simply complete the remaining payment. I felt that my request was simple, yet it was met with disregard and indifference, leaving a lasting negative impression. The second disappointment came with the room; I had booked a Deluxe King Room, but I was placed in a much smaller room that looked nothing like the pictures shown online. I requested a room change, but received no response until the booking website intervened. The next day, I was moved to another room, but it was far from comfortable—dark and small, which only added to my sense of frustration. The dining experience was also below expectations, with a cramped restaurant and very limited breakfast options. I didn’t feel attended to by the staff, who seemed indifferent to any requests from guests. This lack of care was disheartening, making me feel as though I didn’t deserve the service they offer. Finally, the constant noise in the hotel, likely from a nearby bar or karaoke venue, made it impossible to relax, depriving us of a peaceful night’s sleep. I have attached some photos from my first night to illustrate the conditions I faced, and with great regret, I must say that I will not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. This experience was filled with disappointment and a sense of unfair treatment. I hope my review helps others make informed decisions.

I believe The Merchant Hotel is the best in Baku. From the moment you walk in the front door, you feel welcomed and you receive true personal service. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to provide extra service suggesting places to visit and things to do as well. The rooms are large, clean, and in a great style. The hotel is so quiet at night, so you get a great night's sleep. The breakfast room is stunning with a glass roof so it's like sitting in a courtyard. The variety of food is mesmerizing. The service from the watering staff in the breakfast room is the best. They are constantly making sure you are happy and enjoying your breakfast. They accommodate so many different cultures with food from various countries. The location of the hotel is excellent, right near the Old Town and not far to walk to major sights. There is even a lovely scent continually sprayed throughout the hotel so the place is forever amusing your senses. The bar in the evening is fun to sit at as they often have a live singer to entertain. Compliments to Javar, the assistant manager was always friendly and helpful, providing professional assistance to every guest. I loved Baku, it was a glorious surprise. Staying at the amazing Merchant Hotel in Baku made the whole trip not only an amazing experience but a truly memorable one. I highly recommend it and I will be staying there again many times in the future.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel centrally located. Baku's charming old town (including Gosha Gala Gapysy) is just a few steps away, making it an ideal location for tourists. There are also a number of great azerbaijani restaurant options nearby. The hotel is also close to a wide range of local boutiques and shops. My room was spacious and very clean. The lobby area and restaurant were very elegant and welcoming. Staff were professional and friendly. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold dishes, with cold pressed fresh juices offered daily. I also tried their massage/spa service, which was very relaxing after a long day of exploring Baku. This hotel was so perfect that I couldn't find any flaws.

The location couldn't be better. If want to be in the center of the action and a stones throw away from the old town, this is your hotel. There are no negatives to this hotel. They mix up the breakfast every morning so it isn't the exact same thing every day and their cocktails are excellent. As an aside, if you have dollars left over, you may want to exchange them back before you leave the country. It's hard to find an exchange place stateside that will exchange manate.
