This is by far the best looking hotel we've ever been to. The room was superb as well as the rest of the hotel. We loved wandering across the corridors and discover the different spaces available and the decorations, and the outside area also had its amount of surprises! Nice selection of Irish whiskeys at the bar, and the food during dinner and during breakfast was great (and what a dinner room!). All of the staff members were really warm and tried their best to meet our demands (thanks again for suggesting that White Hag Púca Sour cask whiskey). Will definitely be back!

Folks this castle is amazing. I took my wife for her birthday waited 3 years to get the date I needed and it didn't disappoint me one bit. We've Been to 2 others in the last few years but this blows them out the water from the staff, the grounds, the food and the room it is amazing pure relaxation at its best and have to say Alex on reception is a we star she gave us great information about the castle who stayed there and when and she wouldn't even take a pic of us beside the fire until she got it all stoked up to make the pic look even better and then proceed to open the Chapel and another room for us to explore. I highly recommend this for a visit well worth it.

Ladies Afternoon Tea We celebrated a friends retirement by going to Markree Castle and it was Absolutely Fabulous!The Staff were so friendly and attentive . The relaxed ambience and beautiful surroundings both the castle and grounds and the gorgeous spread of sandwiches, cakes, scones, lemon curd jam and service made it all so special and memorable. Thank you so much to all at Markree Castle .

We stayed at Markree Castle for two nights either side of a wedding we were attending. We were lucky to get to stay the night before - they had a cancellation. The castle is a magical as it looks, inside and out. It’s a beautiful space, perfect for a wedding but also perfect for a special break in Sligo. Service was second to none. Food and drinks served to a high standard.

We recently got married at Markree Castle and cannot praise all of the staff highly enough for their excellent attention to detail, warmth and friendliness! They ensured the entire day went off without a hitch, all while making us feel so special. No ask was too big and the communication from the day we booked was beyond our expecations. We cannot wait to return to the Castle again and would recommend that anyone considering Markree for their wedding, do not hesitate and book. You will not be disappointed!

How can you feel at home in a 15th century castle? With the help of the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. They know the history of the place, they know that excellent service can be delivered without pretension and they know that excellent cuisine can be delivered without fuss. A fantastic experience in a beautifully restored castle in a beautiful part of Ireland.

What a day for a wedding !!! I cant express how beautiful Markree castle is. On entering a long drive you have sheep all sides and then you are entering the castle grounds. Grounds are exceptionally clean. Inside the castle is absolutely magnificent. Food is tasty and staff are very welcoming.

This is the Castle where dream do come true! And once upon a time there was a majestic Castle where wedding dreams began. From the moment we saw it 30 years ago we had a love affair with it. So we booked it in January 2023 and 15 moths later got married in all it splendour and beauty. Every bed unique and beautiful drawing rooms to relax with our guest. Then the food which was better than any Michelin restaurant in the whole of Ireland. The staff now thats the real reason that makes Markree magical. From Nicholas & Deirdre, Eoin and Emer who plan everything for you and do everything on the day. All we can say is that everyone else was wonderful and caring too all our guest. No wonder it is now the best wedding venue in Ireland.

The most incredible wedding venue. Setting, food, and staff were amazing, with a big thanks to Emer and Eoin for helping us with everything. Accommodation on site is spectacular. Our guests had the best time and loved the intimate setting of the castle and the atmosphere.
