Our rooms were very spacious but not in the best condition. However, I knew this was a possibility having read reviews before we travelled, so not a major surprise. That said, I am amased that our room was deemed to be guest ready - We had stains on the seating area, worn carpets, dirty walls and the toilet was a struggle to flush. Couldn't find any accessible plug sockets in bedroom! The main saving grace here are the staff who are amazing and work so hard. Breakfast was perfect on the Friday morning. Saturday was a little more chaotic with having to queue (why not open the partition the other tables??) Hot food taking an age to be replenished, loads of people waiting for tea etc., Would we come back? Surprisingly you might think - yes! We can see the promise and appreciate that the new management are doing their best to rejuvinate the place. My advice though - overhaul the rooms asap!

The room was very satisfactory the staff and management very friendly. The breakfast was excellent, And we certainly would return again. We used the bar and again staff were courteous and service excellent! We stayed 13/14th May ,2024. Car parking was ample and free, however the entrance is narrow!

Disappointed. Tired room. Stain on chair, tv on wall clearly not working so left on wall and tv put in front of it. Toilet dirty, shower head only half jets working due to scale blocking others. Bathroom grubby and very stained headboard on bed. Went to have coffee in morning and just milk and sugar in room. Bath grubby. Appreciate under new management but basics not even addressed. Would not return.

Booked through buy a gift luxury 2 night stay for 2 people . We booked it as it said on the site it was a Mercure hotel which it is not as u can see the Mercure has been scratched off . The back of the hotel looks like a council Easter tower block. Carpets look tired and stained . We had a very small basic room not luxury at all. We looked at menu before going to hotel there was plenty of things we liked on there but when we looked when got there the menu was completely different with not a lot of choice. Luckily there are lots of lovely local bars and restaurants near by. Breakfast was cold and unorganised staff were rude and seem to hide in the kitchen leaving dirty tables guests waiting long time for a clean table . We went out during the day at 2 pm I got a call from the hotel asking if we would be dining there that night. I have never benn called by hotel and asked that before we had not made a decision at that point . The reception was hardly maned . The only positive was Monday morning breakfast there was a member staff that was organising breakfast all tables were clean plus it was not buffet so food was hot. Honestly we were so disappointed as this was booked for a 10 year anniversary present. It really is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would tell people to avoid

Lovely spacious room. Think we must have had an upgrade as it was more than just a standard double room. Bed was huge and very comfy. Had a sofa in the room too. Breakfast was lovely and amazing for only £4 each! Overall thought it was really good value for money. Hotel has lots of character, free parking (through a very narrow opening) and about half the price of nearby Premier inn and a much nicer stay. I expect the prices will go up soon though once everyone hears it’s back open again.

The rooms are dirty and so are the common parts. The garden Is nice and the breakfast Is good. The car park Is Easy (outsider the hotel) , the people are friendly. You can go downtown on a short walk. It's a shame that the clenliness of the hotel Is so neglected, because the Building Is very nice.

We travelled from Milton Keynes and had a Fantastic stay. The staff are exceptional. The food is outstanding. The rooms are good for the prices and there is so much to see and do around it. Highly recommend. The Camembert is wow. As was the gammon. The extensive gin menu and the decor, everything is fab. We will be back.
