Train View Chalet in Bandarawela is a delightful retreat that exceeded our expectations. Right from our initial call, communication was excellent, with detailed information sent via WhatsApp. The location is easily accessible by any vehicle. We booked the Luxury Double Room ("Pattipola"), a charming two-story villa complete with a living room featuring a fireplace, a bathtub, and a private verandah. Despite a widespread power outage during our stay, the staff ensured all facilities were operational. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with plain tea and Viskirinja (විස්කිරිඤ්ඤා). The attentive staff assisted with luggage, allowing us to enjoy our tea while exploring the villa. The bed was cozy, with clean sheets and towels provided. Surprisingly, hot water was available even during the power cut. If there was an air heater, that would be perfect. The bathroom and bathtub were clean, ⚠️ although the transparent fish tank near the bathroom raised privacy concerns. The verandah, equipped with bean bags, offered a serene spot to enjoy the train views. Wi-fi was available, and the fireplace in the living room added a special touch to our stay. For dinner, we opted for BBQ Chicken Kottu and Creamy Mushroom Soup, reasonably priced and served hot. The food was not only delicious but also generously portioned. In the morning, we witnessed the enchanting sight of trains passing by the chalet. The garden, home to rabbits, hamsters, and birds, added to the charm. Breakfast comprised string hoppers and bread with Sri Lankan curries, enjoyed in the clean and inviting restaurant. A nearby iron bridge, accessible by walking on the railway, provided another picturesque spot to explore. In summary, our stay at Train View Chalet was truly memorable. The service was exceptional, with friendly and efficient staff. The food was fabulous, and the facilities offered great value for the price. The welcoming atmosphere made us feel like friends rather than visitors. "Come as a visitor, go as a friend" – they embody this sentiment wholeheartedly! ❤️

Me & my friends had a memorable few nights in Train View Chalet. Green huge environment with so many natural assets in the property. This is a nature friendly unique hotel in Sri Lanka. The hotel has a natural bath, Colonial tunnel to walk under, trekking on railway track, mini zoo, fish therapy & pure oxygen to breath. Friendly staff with 24 hrs quick service & meals cooked from their own organic vegetables. All the luxuries are there. They do all the sightseeing tours with modified jeeps. All in one place. Highly recommend place for multiple nights....

Amazing, friendly and cosy hotel. The team took total care of our family from train pickup to drop off. They are quite organised and have a well laid out itinerary so the guests make the most of their time. The hotel has pets, birds, bee hives, tea plantation, vegetable patch and a lovely stream with a natural shower. This makes it perfect for families with young kids. It also is a dog friendly hotel.

Train View chalets are situated close to forest reserve and it is an ideal place to relax in a eco friendly environment. Whole property is green with various plants and at night, area was quiet except for random noise of small nocturnal animals and you get the feeling of a forest around you. We travelled from Colombo by the train and their vehicle was waiting for us at the Railway station. The owner is very friendly and always helpful. His customer service is excellent. He has his own vehicles and he organised our trips around Bandarawela. There was a range of choices for food and food is wonderful. We will definitely stay in Train View Chalet next time too.

Was an amazing experience.. went with my family.. my 7 year old son had an enjoyable time.. there were Ducks and Geese to feed and see.. there was a fish therapy tank.. you can walk down the train track to see an old metal bridge.. we kept a coin on the rail track for the train to squash it.. :) The rooms are exceptionally big and spacious.. bathrooms are very good.. there is hot water.. Food quantity was good. And tasty. But the price is on the high side.. and takes a long time to prepare.. so dont forget to pre order well ahead of time.. the rooms are right at the bottom and there is a stairway to get there.. climbing up and down the stairs for meals is a bit annoying, especially since your on holiday to relax.. they help your with your bags so no fuss there.. Would not recommend this place if your coming with small children. Kids should atleast be over 6 years.. All in all was a nice experience..

We were a group and visited as a family. It was a truly memorable trip and a stay at Train View Chalet. It was the most comfortable trip we ever had as everything was organized by Eranda. Starting from purchasing the train tickets, pick up from Bandarawela Station and taking us to our location. The staff were very efficient and friendly, we didn't have to tell them anything, but they took care of everything. Unloading our baggage, dropping them to each of our rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious and was provided with basic requirements. We felt as if we are home away from home. The atmosphere and surroundings were wonderful, and it is superb to relax. Even though it is named Train View Chalet, the trains do not travel in a disturbing way. You can watch the train passing by from your own room. The food was well presented and tasty. We stayed there 3 days and 2 nights, and we have no complaints nor any negative comments only recommendations for anyone who wants to visit this unique place. When it was time for our departure, we were dropped off to the station and the staff accompanied us to assist us with loading our baggage to train and for goodbyes. it was a hassle-free trip, and overall, it is "Value for Money". Finally, a big "Thank You" to Eranda & Team for taking such good care of us and for your simplicity and friendliness. We will return to experience your great hospitality in future as well.
