Though noticeably dated, the Quality Inn at Bangor Mall offered a clean comfortable stay. My husband convinced me to stay the night in Bangor, unexpectedly, due to a long day’s travel and the Quality Inn had the most reasonable rate for a quick stop over. I’m a paranoid traveller, always packing my own disinfectant wipes to clean my hotel room upon arrival. I can own that I’m kind of snobby about where I sleep, so I had my doubts that this hotel would meet my expectations. Still, I gave it a shot. When I stepped into the room (on the first floor) I was equal parts disappointed that it was dated and impressed that it smelled SO crisp and clean. Despite the clean smell, my skepticism remained and I got to work. I did my check (linens, surfaces, bathroom, etc,) and wiped any areas I usually consider suspect. To my pleasant surprise, my wipes showed next to no sign of being soiled! Even at top tier hotels, this doesn’t always happen. So, despite the carpet being worn, the woodwork being chipped, and the bathroom being tiny, I felt assured that housekeeping does an excellent job of maintaining cleanliness. I crawled into bed and was impressed by how soft and comfortable the sheets were; they also had that faint smell of bleach that gives the extra bit of reassurance. In the morning, we stopped in for breakfast and were greeted by the kindest, friendliest breakfast room attendant. I didn’t catch her name but she was lovely and made a lovely final impression. All in all, it was a great stay and we’d have zero hesitation with staying again in the future.
