(Korean accommodation review) This is the hotel I used when I first came to Barcelona. It's a bit far from Plaza Catalunya and Sagrada Familia, but you can get around in less than 15 minutes by subway. Compared to hotels in famous tourist destinations, the price is cheap and the food is delicious (the restaurant on the first floor seems to be a local restaurant with a lot of people). The tourist area is noisy because there are a lot of people, but the hotel is a local residence, so the neighborhood is quiet. Recommended for those who don’t like noise! The subway and supermarket are within a 4-7 minute walk.

Most likely the best hotel we've been. The staff was simply amazing, everyone was super friendly and welcoming but not forced, we could notice the nicest vibes of the employees (Alberto, Salvatore and Rebeca were the ones we dealt the most but as we wrote before everyone was amazing!). We had dinner in our second night and then we were sad not to had all our dinner meals at the hotel because it was simply divine. For sure the Chef is someone that puts his heart into the food he's cooking. Also a praise to the breakfast which we thought someone should've watched us in our daily life in the second they came with a bowl of fruit and yogurt because it's our daily breakfast at home... Then the poached eggs were simply perfect. We'll return for sure. And lastly a message for the administration, please keep it as it is, the people, the place, everything is amazing! Five of us rented a big house. Very satisfied, so beautiful! Clean, and the location is particularly good. Convenient everywhere! ! Each bedroom is very large, and the toilet supplies in the bathroom are also very useful. And when I left, I forgot very important items. The clerk helped me keep it and called! thank you very much! ! Next to the downstairs is a pharmacy, opposite the bustling street, it is very convenient for shopping and shopping. Had a very good experience here. Not a bad walk from Barcelona-Sants, and the lobby is very chill, comfortable, and a great place to cool down. They have fresh water and candy for anybody rolling in. The concierge all spoke English, which was a huge help to me, and though I arrived two hours early, they got me a room immediately (albeit at a 10 euro extra cost). The room was quite nice and I had no noise issues whatsoever; surprising given how busy the main road was, but luckily I was not overlooking it. I wish it didn't cost extra to get the 'fast' internet - and there was a hiccup with neither concierge knowing how to switch from the regular to the fast after already signing up for the regular - but that was a tiny speedbump in the experience as a whole. Would certainly go back, and would recommend this place to anyone.

When first booking our trip to Barcelona, it was a little overwhelming the amount of properties one could choose from. After a bit of review and consideration we decided on the Hotel Olivia Balmes. We were most interested in finding a hotel that was centrally located, emphasized comfort and cleanliness, & had in room central air conditioning (given our late summer travel). The hotel hit top marks in all. We also used the pool and ate breakfast which were both excellent. I would not hesitate to book a stay here. The front desk staff were also very kind and available 24 hours a day.

Fantastic hotel, amazing room, good staff and lovely rooftop pool in a super convenient location walking distance to parc guell and placa cataluna. If you like walking which we do. If you are really looking for something to complain about the pool was rather chilly and it was quite noisy at night (but what do you expect in a central location) I slept well anyway in a lovely bed.. definitely will come back

The Hotel has a wonderful staff. They are very friendly and polite. The location is more than perfect. The hotel is located 5-7 away of the central part of the city. Plenty of restaurants choices . Very clean place with a modern design. We've been there to celebrate our son's 3rd birthday and the management has been prepare for. They had organised the room with a lot of balloons and small presents for him. Very kind of them. The breakfast was included and it was with a multiple choices. Excellent customer service... So - Highly recommended place of any one aspect!

Calling it a swimming pool is a lie, feel ripped off. When you select a hotel with a swimming pool, the prices went up by £300-400 for our stay, so a hefty increase, but they didn't have one. It was 1 foot deep, that's not a pool, if you can't swim in it then it's a glorified puddle. Breakfast was vile, only edible part was the croissants, which seems pricey for £9 per day. Bed was relatively cosy, but on wheels and made so much noise any time either of us moved in the slightest. There was a buzzing sound that went off from the fan every 5 seconds, not too bad during the day, but when you're trying to sleep then it was a nightmare. The staff were friendly at reception, the bright spark that kept us from going elsewhere as we were really tempted. Wouldn't book again.

This hotel was fine, and yet quite confounding. What should have been a fine experience otherwise was marred several stupid and small flaws, which would be really easy to fix, if there was any will at all on the part of management:   1) Check-in - with only one person before me, took 20 minutes. Computers were not working.    2) Privacy policy - I was made to sign a paper, but after signing the person kept the paper. I had no copy so no record of what I signed.   3) Room: Totally baffling array of switches for the lighting system, impossible to decipher.   4) Hair dryer: broken, screeching sound and no air coming out. Wondef if the staff bother check them? I was quite scared and turned it off immediately.   5) Contacting reception - I had to use my mobile phone to call the front desk to report the hair dryer, at which time i was told that the number to contact reception was 1700. Amazing. NO one said that on check in. I did later discovered it was handwritten on the key-card paper, but the receptionist could have bothered to point that out.   6) Elevators. Ridiculous! I visited several floors to find the way back to reception. There is a giant sign OUTSIDE the elevator that says 0 for reception. But INSIDE the elevator there is no ”O”, only ”B”. I finally go thtere, but I mean seriously, how unhelpful.   7) Invoice - I requested an invoice at reception on departure. When I got home I discovered it is not even a correctly done official invoice for VAT purposes. It was issued on a plain piece of paper, lacked the company name address and VAT number, and they didn´t bother to put my info on it.   I had to write to atencion cliente and comercia1 to request a new one.   Items 5 and 6 could be so easily solved with small stickers (one for each phone, two for each elevator).   How much effort is that? Obviously too much.    I should add, that the stay was otherwise fine. This could be a five star experience. Except, it isn't.   These are small things. Never have I encountered a hotel that gave off such a feeling of no one caring at all about the place.

I had already stayed in that hotel in April 2013 and altogether it was a rather good stay. The bedroom I was allocated on that occasion was comfortable and peaceful so that scarcely any noise was audible. The rest of the conditions regarding that stay were also good. I decided therefore to book again in that hotel for three weeks during which I had to be in Barcelona, namely from July 16th 2020 to August 6th, except the 21st since that day at night I had to be somewhere else for personal reasons. My stay this time was quite the opposite to that referred to. As a matter of fact, it turned out to be a nightmare thus causing me to decide to leave the hotel on July 21st and book in another one for the rest of my stay in Barcelona. Upon check-in I was allocated the bedroom 405. I was cold in that room albeit it was summer time and the temperature outside was higher than 30º C. After switching off the air conditioning machine there was still a draft of cold air which was very annoying and harmful. I complained about that what made them let me change the room, allocating me that number S02. That new room was all right as to the air conditioning and, besides, the first night it was peaceful so that I could sleep with no trouble whatsoever. Notwithstanding that, on the following day one of the rooms next door was allocated to some people who behaved like beasts. They used to come back to the hotel at midnight or later screaming as if they were possessed by the devil and once in the room they continued shouting and moreover they bumped on the walls in a foolish way. When I went to complain at the front desk the following morning the receptionist in charge of the relevant service at that moment, whose name is Alexandra, just behaved in a nasty and despicable way. She hardly listened to me and interrupted me constantly. It was altogether very unpleasant. Another trouble I had to endure was in relation to the safe in the bedroom. On July 18th it ran out of battery. There wasn't anybody at the hotel who could change the exhausted battery by a new one. I had to wait for two days for a technician to come and proceed to the relevant replacement. The fact that nobody at the hotel knows how to change the safe batteries is utterly unbelievable and ridiculous. Meanwhile I had to walk around Barcelona with all the money and other valuables in my pockets thus running the risk of being robbed, the more so if the fact that Barcelona has become a dangerous city is taken into consideration. The receptionists advised me to leave the money in the safe anyway since, as they said, nobody would enter it if I left the relevant sign on the door latch for the room not to be cleaned up. I left the sign in the stated way but I didn't dare leave my money and valuables in the room with the safe little door ajar as it couldn't be locked down. It wouldn't have been the first time that a burglary takes place at a hotel. As a consequence of the mishap referred to by the way the bedroom
