Mesón Castilla Atiram Hotel

The location couldn't be better. If in Barcelona for the conference, it's really convenient since the "Universitat" subway station is just behind the corner.  Tourist attractions are all super close (la Rambla, Gothic Quarter, Sagrada Família). The taxi driver told me it's a great are an he was right.  Staff was super nice and very helpful whenever I asked anything. The rooms are on the smaller side, but clean and no complaints. The hotel building inside is nice and has some history, especially the breakfast floor. I would recommend this hotel. 

We got the twin room - as that’s all was left . Nothing wrong with the hotel or staff Location fabulous But for us - pillows hurt my ears - man made fibre type . Bed was hard Didnt sleep through 2 nights in a row . Everything was spotless clean And shower hot water fantastic But hard to leave a recommendation when you haven’t slept for for 2 days . It’s the one thing that makes all the difference.

I booked 3 nights, mainly because I saw a photo of a swimming pool on Trip.com. However, when I arrived, the staff told me there is no pool at all, and that the image shown online was not part of their hotel. This was very disappointing. When I went to report this, I saw that the photo had already been removed from the listing, which made it harder to prove. Regarding the deposit, I paid in cash at check-in. To be fair, I forgot to ask about it during check-out. After I returned home, I emailed the hotel, and they replied saying the refund would be processed via bank transfer. However, at the time of writing this review, I still haven't received the money. Additionally, I had booked a twin room, but I was informed that children were not permitted in that room type. I admit it was written in the booking, but it wasn't obvious. The hotel charged us an additional €49 per night to upgrade to a triple room. However, on the first night, we still had to sleep in the original twin room, even though we had already paid for the triple. We only moved to the triple room on the second and third nights. The invoice was only sent on the second day, which made it confusing – I initially thought I wouldn’t be charged the first night. Ultimately, I contacted Trip.com's customer service, and they were helpful, offering partial compensation. I appreciate their support, but I believe future guests should be aware of these issues.

- Great location, 2 mins to the metro on La Rambla. - Very nice and helpful staff. - Almost not-working interner connection. - Old rooms with uncomfortable beds (not 4 star worthy)

The location is great, close to centre.
