Uma Suites Barceloneta Beach

Beware - photos are old and misleading. Broken shower, broken toilet flush, VERY squeaky beds make sleep impossible + VERY noisy street. The apar**ent could be very nice but is not well maintained, needs painting. The issues would be simple to fix but the owners seem to ignore the reviews and complaints and just keep taking bookings. Fix the issues (the bed in particular) and you will get better reviews. The beds really are bad - they squeak so loudly with even the slightest move. The apar**ent would be lovely if they'd just fix these issues and its awful they don't, as it wouldn't cost much. Terrible management to not maintain properly. Also, beware photos - they were taken a long time ago and also they put the same photos for each apar**ent but the apar**ents vary. They should sell each apar**ent separately and be clear on the photos for each one. Don't book it - you won't sleep.

We booked a lovely apar**ent with Uma Suites near la Rambla for July 2020 - it was described as a 'luxury 3 bed' and it looked it and was well reviewed - it's rated 8.8 on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately due to COVID we were unable to use the rental. Uma Suites refused any refund but did offer to honour the booking this year. So far so good. However less than a month before we travelled last week - we received an email to say they had moved us to another apar**ent as they no longer rent the one we had booked. We asked what other options were available and there were none. We were assured we would enjoy it as it was a higher standard and near the beach - which we had no interest in and didn't visit. We got there for our 4 night stay and left after one night. It was neither luxury nor 3 bedroom. The 3rd 'bedroom' is a loft open to the kitchen with a low ceiling that only a child could stand up in - and it's accessed by a very steep ladder. We saw no smoke detectors or CO alarms and the windows had bars over them - ground floor. There seemed to be 2 other apar**ents in the building and a party went on with people coming and going till about 5 am - there's a lot of street noise during the night from people and vehicles . This is not a suitable place for families in our opinion. The accommodation is far from luxury - the apar**ent is poorly maintained, though clean. Staff were friendly and everything you need was supplied - but the place was a real let-down.
