I sent this feedback to the General Manager but have not had a response and it’s now been a month. We left CG with a general feeling of disappointment- it has lost some of its magic. It feels like CG has expanded it’s offering but the experience and service has been watered down. Whilst some staff remained exceptional, service and attention to detail was not consistent. Check-in: Not very welcoming, lack of staff. There was no one at the door (outside and inside). The lady that checked us in tried to do so whilst trying to resolve a different issue on the walkie-talkie. She didn’t appear warm and happy- more a little disgruntled and stressed. We had pulled up by the front door, we had to request if someone could move our car into the carpark. Our biggest disappointment was, The Dining Room. It used to be such a special experience, with outstanding food and attentive, knowledgeable staff. Some staff seemed less experienced, we had different servers, and one was confused when we tried to order a glass of wine as it wasn’t his job. The atmosphere was lost due to an iPad on full volume. We really enjoyed, The Kitchen. On the first night, the server was brilliant and made a huge, positive impact on our experience. The second time we went it was the opposite. Despite having 6 members of staff looking out to the tables, it seemed a challenge to get any service. Lots of the younger servers seemed to be furiously tapping on the computer. Unfortunate, my Mother- in-Law sent us a bunch of flowers to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we got married at CG). Despite being delivered to the hotel we never saw them. It was only a week later when my Mother- in- Law mentioned, we realised what had happened. There has been no real resolution to this.
