All parts and rooms of the hotel are full of history, exquisite decoration, exquisite supplies, and the hygiene and environment are very good. The service is proactive, thoughtful and meticulous, the highest level in Basel.

The hotel is gorgeous. Located on the banks of the River Rhine . My room had a little veranda like overlooking the Rhine. The service is superb and all of the different restaurant, bars and special sitting rooms are gorgeous. The hotel is a special treat to any traveler

From the time you check in with a hotel towel until you checkout with a gift of special preserves, you will be overwhelmed with the friendly courteous staff. Everyone was always smiling and made you feel special. We had room 303 with a city view and did not have any problems with noise. The elevators were always quick when called. This hotel has got to be the best in Basel with its 101 rooms - in process of expanding.

One of Europe’s grand old hotels with everything one wants and a location one cannot beat. Very classy but not too stuffy. Know that it is pricey, like 55CHF for breakfast buffet ( book a breakfast included or walk across the street if you just want coffee/tea). Linger in the river view bar and lounge and watch the Middle Bridge, dating from the 1200’s. Since here it is customary to offer wines by the 10 dl, order by the bottle!

This hotel is an exceptional base for an atmospheric city stay in Basel. I stayed for five nights in May and loved it. For a grand Swiss hotel, there is a wonderful warm sense of intimacy. The bar, restaurants and lounge areas are gorgeous spaces- truly impressive without feeling intimidating or cold. All are filled with beautiful fresh flowers. My room- a queen river view- was very comfortable and beautifully maintained. The rooms are quite “imperial” in style- with a lot of saturated gold, blue and red. Bedding was of excellent quality. I loved my terrace space, which had beautiful sunlight in the morning. The one problem with the large terraces on the first floor to be aware of, is that neighbours can potentially see easily into neighbouring rooms if they choose to dine at their outside tables. Service standard was superb throughout. The hotel rapidly responded to my phone call from Australia to adjust my booking extremely close to my stay (thankyou Marina), the concierge and reception staff were also very helpful and efficient. On my first night, the service from the bartender also made such a strong impression taking me through the house cocktails. Even requests to housekeeping for lounge cushions on my terrace were addressed almost instantaneously. The food offerings are excellent. The breakfast quality was significantly superior to other larger Swiss grand hotels I’ve visited (Suvretta House, Bellevue Palace Bern, Beau Rivage Palace Lausanne) with excellent service, food range and quality. A house champagne is served. Dinner at Cheval Blanc with a couple of colleagues was impeccable- one of the best quality meals I’ve ever enjoyed. For the quality, prices were not at all unreasonable. Light meals and cocktails at the bar were largely excellent. The one exception was that the club sandwich was not good enough, nor appropriately priced for quality (and I am used to Swiss pricing, and don’t say that lightly). The location is perfect- very central for wandering to the convention centre in Klein Basel, and through to the market and cathedral squares and the Kunstmuseum (one of the best fine art museums in any city). The tram network is excellent. In spite of major renovations, the main building of the hotel is not affected. I ate lunch twice on the terrace adjacent to the building undergoing works and there was no noise. The current gym arrangements are not at all ideal (the main lift opens directy onto facilities), but I understand temporary through the renovations. I would return here without a moment of hesitation.

A lovely hotel in a great location with absolutely Wonderful staff. Stayed there only one night before a riverboat cruise. The hotel certainly lives up to its reputation. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We were waiting at reception while the only reception staff member was on the phone. A manager noticed and immediate came to help and also called someone else over. That’s customer service. The concierge recommended and arranged places for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was delightful, especially the home made jams. They even gave us a pot of the jam when we checked out. Thank you Trois Rois, we’ll be back.

"Rich in history, young at heart." Spring visit to an iconic grand hotel When you come out of your hotel room in the morning and the chambermaid who comes to meet you in the hallway cheerfully asks you if you slept well, you feel comfortable and appreciated. Such natural, unpretentious friendliness from the hotel team is by no means a given, even in luxury hotels. In the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois, perhaps the most beautiful grand hotel in Europe, I actually encountered it everywhere in the building.

What a wonderful hotel! The staff is amazing and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. Rooms were beautifully decorated, the views of the Rhine are amazing! Staying here will make your trip to Basel a memorable one! When we were checking out, we inquired of the concierge directions to our tram stop. He walked us there to make sure we were in the right place. This is the place to stay in Basel.
