Hotels Near Schutzenmattpark in Basel

We had a two day stay at this hotel on the way to Paris. This is a charming hotel with a historic facade but modern and renovated interior. We had the Queen room and whilst only 20 sq mtrs felt very spacious. Location is prefect for those with luggage and arriving by train as the station is across the road. We had a lovely view of the station and no noise could be heard with the windows closed. We often opened the windows to soak up the atmosphere of the trams and buskers and the hustle and bustle of the station. The old town is not far away and easily walkable but the hotel provides free public transport cards which makes it even easier to visit the city and surrounds. Some lovely old buildings and a marketplace to visit. We did not have breakfast at this hotel but there is a large supermarket next door where drinks, food, bakery items can be purchased. The bar/ restaurant downstairs has inside and outside seating with the outside area great for watching people and the station happenings. If we return this would be our hotel of choice. Switzerland is a very expensive country so expect to pay a lot more for drink and food than you do at home. A block away is Markthalle an upmarket food court with cuisines from all over the world. We ate here both nights as the food was so good.

The room is poorly soundproofed, and the floor upstairs creaks when stepped on. It's speechless. It's the first time I booked a self-check-in. The gate requires a password to enter. There is no check-in guide when booking on Ctrip. I waited for a long time until someone opened the door and slipped in. Ctrip asked the hotel agent but there was no response. Fortunately, there were other people in the restaurant who kindly gave me directions. There is a shared kitchen. 700 yuan is not bad, right? The socket of this one is small, and the power ***** cannot be used. I used this when I went to France before. Fortunately, their USB can be used, so it dealt with it for one night.

Clean well run hotel - all the staff were professional and very helpful - sorted out an incorrect booking without drama and helped book taxied etc - staff spurns even early ( 4.15 am) to help make the stay effortless Clean and professionally run place - we recommend. And rebook

I have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

Very good, although it is an old building, but it is very clean, with a hair dryer and an electric fan, from the train station to the exhibition center building, just a few minutes away, from the hotel to the river, the old town is very close. There are shopping streets and shopping malls in a few minutes. Arriving at the hotel in advance also gave me a warm check-in, and I can leave my luggage for free after check-out. The elevator is old-fashioned and requires you to manually open the door. The breakfast was very good. I forgot to bring my mobile phone when I was eating. I didn’t charge the city tax. The first floor large restaurant also offers additional catering services, I did not eat. Also sent a city tour voucher, you can take a free ferry boat, offer discounts to visit several museums and free access to wifi of more than a dozen museums (I have pass and portable WIFI, useless)

This hotel is within walking distance from the SBB train station, staff at the hotel are very friendly and speak very good English. I was very grateful for the early check in without any quibble with the receptionist, and she explained how we can get around. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold foods, with variations every day. I would definitely stay here again. The only discomfort with our room was the temperature in our room was set to 19C, which was comfortable during the day, but was a bit too hot for the night for us, and we couldn’t lower the temperature down.

Good location if you are traveling on public transport. We came from Colmar by train and the hotel is only a short taxi ride from the station. It is not an area for cafes, restaurants etc. as there is nothing around. There is a tram just up from the hotel and you can take this into the heart if the city. We didn’t as it was only an overnight stay and we were too tired. We contented ourselves with a snack from a machine in the lobby. The room was small but for one or two nights not a problem. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We left too early for breakfast so can’t comment on the food. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for short stays. Great value for the price we paid, AU$97.

The truly lovely, friendly staff are the only positive I can take away from this hotel. We booked late so everything else in a reasonable price range was booked up. For the price we paid, it was quite disappointing. Gives off strong youth hostel vibes, rooms in serious need of an update. No air-con ( and it's currently 35°C) and room smelled weird and fusty. Worst of all was the noise. We had a ground floor room and the noise from reception as well as guests sitting out until the wee hours on the terrace area continues until well after midnight. Then guests started to leave (at top volume) at 4am again. There is no sound-proofing inside the room either, i.e. from the bathroom. There may as well be no door at all. We paid €11 each for breakfast. The selection was sp**** but edible. In summary, we would not return to the hotel unless nothing else was available. We value a decent night's sleep too much.

The building does not work unreservedly on the guest, but arrived at the right floor, this impression turns around 180 degrees. You are welcomed by a bright lobby with friendly staff. The surprise continues in the generous and top-modern rooms. The restaurant is also very recommended, although the choice might be greater.

I travel a lot and usually dont care about the exterior of the Hotels but the inside and staff is important. Worker at the desk was very polite and skilled when i checked in. When i entered the room... abt 300 Euro a night! To say its old to say nothing - like in the old good USSR times in Moscow, Sankt Petersburg, DDR side of Berlin! 40 years ago, what a nostalgic feeling, smell of old carpet, never cleaned AC. Had to open window to get fresh air insine. Paint art on the wall by Natalie Goller - Innenraum Rußland. Was für ein Zufall! For 300 Euro a night! First evening at the Restaurant i choose Wiener Schnitzel with salad and French fries 🍟. My first Wiener Schnitzel ever and never ever if this piece of smashed to 3 mm dry pork was the real Wiener Schnitzel then sorry... Only good thing was the salad. At the hotel restaurant For 300 Euro a night! Breakfast was outstanding, nothing special at the hotel restaurant For 300 Euro a night! Asked in the morning if they do laundry the answer was - no, but whae i asked again at the desk in an hotel for 300 Euro a night the lady called someone and repeated what he heard on the other side of the line - laundry is the responsibility of the guests. Means do your self At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Finally me and the lady on the desk figured out that the hotel does outsource the laundry to a third party company.
