Villa Del Faro

The resort is near the beach, just a 5min walk from the resort. But the beach itself isn't that fine. Don't expect Boracay type beach with fine sand. It was quite rocky with a small patch of sand that goes along for a few km. But what it lacks in swimming it makes up on view and walkability. You should definitely bring water shoes because this beach is a nice place to walk on because the water was usually low and you could see all the sea life in shallow water. Or just play in the sand with the kids. The resort itself is small but the rooms were newly renovated. Everything was clean and the shower had hot water which I always appreciate. Bed was comfy and I slept well. The pool was good and had a deep end which is unique to most pools in the PH. But pool had no heater so it was absolutely freezing. The only thing that I could really complain about was the food. The quality itself was ok, home cooking and taste was decent. But it was around p380 or something for a tapsilog and other usual Pinoy favorites. so imagine a regular hotsilog for p380. Restaurants are far and few so you really have to plan where you want to eat if you stay here. Staff were excellent and the owners where there. They attended to all our needs very promptly and that definitely made up for the food thing. Would recommend but note the food.

From the moment we arrived until the day we departed we loved the place --- friendly staff, good rooms, clean bathrooms, great location and a wonderful breakfast. This hotel is just 200 meters from the transport center where you can find buses, shuttle vans, jeepneys and multicabs to nearby and distant towns. And right next to it is the SM City shopping mall which is quite big. From here we caught a multicab to a few of the local attractions. Definitely would stay here again.
Anfa Royale Hotel

This was my first time to stay in a hotel without pre-booking. We were in Lipa for business, though my husband and I had our two kids with us. Since it was already late to go back to Antipolo, we decided to stay overnight in the city. As suggested by my cousin, who lives in Lipa, we stayed in Anfa. Initially, I wanted to book through Agoda (I have its app on my phone). However, it was showing as already fully booked. Still, we went there to try and see if there were available rooms. To our relief, there was an available room for 4 priced at P2,800/night, so we checked in. The lobby is nice. The chandelier, winding staircase, piano, and comfortable seats give the place an elegant look. But that's all there is as far as elegance is concerned. No elevators. Good thing our room is just on the second floor. The room is quite small. The AC unit is manually operated. (I think all the ACs in the hotel are. In the dining area, I saw a staff stepping on a chair to adjust the AC.) In our room, there's a rusty, old iron safe on the floor that serves as a stool so you can reach the AC unit. Said iron safe is blocking one side of the closet door so you can only open half of the small closet. There was a tiny fridge beside my bed, which also served as my bedside table. :P There was no electric socket for the fridge, but we managed to let the cord reach a nearby socket. We just had to be careful on our way to the bathroom lest we trip on the cord. The remote control for the TV was not working, so we operated the TV manually by pressing on the controls on the side of the TV. It has cable, but with very limited channels. Provisions were set up for 4 people, except for the towels. There were only 3. As well as the free breakfast which was only for 2. We had to pay P175 per plate for each of my 2 children. We were not satisfied with breakfast. The only option was pork longganisa, which we didn't really like. My kids and I don't eat longganisa, but I forced myself to eat one. (There were two small longganisa servings on each plate.) My kids didn't eat theirs. There was a small portion of scrambled eggs which was also a bit salty. They probably use small eggs because I often cook scrambled eggs for my kids and we use large eggs. One large scrambled egg makes more than what was served to us at Anfa. The serving of the fried/java rice was also too small. Like 1/3 cup. :D We didn't use their swimming pool, but it looked quite dirty to me. It was also a bit annoying that there was a pictorial going on at the bottom of the stairs, and we had to wait for several minutes before we can go down. Things I liked: ~ Big bathroom ~ Complete toiletries were provided, including bedroom slippers ~ Comfortable beddings ~ Fast internet connection
