We spent one night here on our way north to Sydney and were not disappointed by the quality of our room, the bed and the amenities. In fact, the bathroom was the most modern and stylish of any motel we have stayed in anywhere in the world. Yes, it is a motel and is run as one, i.e. limited reception hours, no restaurant/snack bar, no services. The two-storey building is in typical motel style with parking at your door. It is on the coastal road, the ground floor rooms having no direct view of the bay and perhaps the same for the upper floor rooms. The location is OK, but just a kilometre or so from the main shops and restaurants, so a 15-minute walk or two minutes by car. The hotel that’s actually a motel and the unsmiling receptionist whose peace was clearly disturbed by our arrival causes me to give the Quays three stars instead of the four it could have got.
