I booked my wedding back in 2018 to get married in 2020 and obviously covid was around and effected a lot of weddings. In June 2020 Niki called me and was asking if I wanted to leave my October wedding or postpone it to a later date and said that weddings will be getting booked up fast and 2021 weddings may be booked up first. So I decided to postpone my wedding to April 2021, We found out a few weeks later that my mum had stage 4 bowel cancer and I asked if I could move my wedding back to October and just have the small wedding without the party and have the party once everything was back to normal. I was told no I couldn’t have my original wedding date back as I have now postponed and they could have sold the April date in that month. (More like they knew that it would never go ahead). I asked Niki multiple times to cancel my wedding but she advised me that I would lose my £1000 deposit & I would be liable to pay the remaining money on my contract, but because of the circumstances she would not charge me anymore than the £1000 deposit and she would credit me £500 of my money back to put towards a party, I agreed even though I felt £1000 was a-lot of money to lose when I knew my wedding wouldn’t have been going ahead anyway but as I was worried about my mum being at my wedding this was more important to me at that time so i went ahead with the cancellation. Just to clarify yes, Nikki did tell me I would lose the money, but at that time money really wasn’t the most important thing on my mind. Which she knew, as I had made it very clear I was stressed about Covid/my mums new illness. But obviously that didn’t matter to the team at the Leeford, most of my other contracts at the time sent me full refunds of my deposits, the venue was the only big one that kept my deposit, even some of my small suppliers sent me full refunds as they said it wasn’t fair for them to keep my money. The dj that’s included with the hotel package I paid over £400 for the love letters and Photo Booth and he refunded me a full refund. Most my suppliers was brilliant and understood that weddings just wasn’t going ahead for a long time. Apparently it was a goodwill gesture that she didn’t charge me the full total price of £4,600 for a wedding that would never of happened due to covid. And also nothing had been done for my wedding, no food orders, only a few emails. £1000 for a few emails. There was no good will whatsoever will the situation all Niki cared about was herself and the business, no care for us as a customer. With the recent news of the venue being sold I asked about the credit of my deposit £500 as I won’t be able to have a party with them now and keeping in mind she offered me this before I cancelled my wedding with her, she’s now said that offer has ended. Her words were “Should you wish to rebook with us at some time in the future then we would credit you with £500.00.” And I agreed and said “hopefully we will see you at some point for a party!” She never
