Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro - All Inclusive

I normally don’t write reviews however I read a ton of reviews on this resort after my husband booked it and I was worried as I was travelling with our kids ( 1-7-12) and he booked for 10 days! We arrived and were welcomed with smiles and a welcome drink upon our arrival. We were shuttled to our room very quickly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to the size of our family we stayed in the two bedroom suite which have all been renovated. The rooms are large, clean and very stylish. We were very happy with our room and location. They are currently doing renovations on a lot of the buildings so all the outdated reviews will soon be obsolete. The noise of the construction did not bother us one bit, we were close to it and I was able to put my 1 year old down for naps no problem. Honestly you would hardly know they were working on it. AC works great in the rooms, we had zero issues and never had to call for help. Fridge in the rooms always stocked with beers and pops. Tons of bottled water provided everyday. The buffet had lots of options and the staff there were pleasant and always making sure you had what you needed. I am a very picky eater and I was able to find yummy choices all the time. My husband on the other hand tried everything and had no stomach issues. The a la cartes were great! The Brazilian steakhouse has the best steak you will ever taste! They have a building called the “food truck” which is near the pools/beach and they have a ton of great choices from sandwiches, fries, onion rings, chicken fingers, burgers etc. definitely a great spot for lunch or a snack :) My son left his iPad at an a la carte and of course thinking the worst that we would never get it back. We went to the front desk a few hours after forgetting it on the table and it was there :). I never felt unsafe for my family or my valuables here at the resort. I was so surprised at the amount of cleaning they do here. Every time I was out I would see them cleaning things I would never have even thought to clean. Every morning waking up the resort was spotless. They work very hard at keeping the beach sea**** free however there was some sea**** at times which is expected…. It’s the ocean :) We came not thinking we would ever trust anyone with our kids however they wanted to try the kids club during the day and once they went they were hooked. They went quite often and always came back with fun stories about all the activities they did. Very thankful for the workers here as they made our kids days and gave us a break to enjoy the pools. In our entire 10 day stay we may have had 5 mosquitoes in our room which is expected when we are in and out all the time. The shows in the evening were great. We only saw a few as one of us was always in the room with the baby. Mosquitoes were the worst in the lobby but nothing a little bug spray wouldn’t solve. I was there Super Bowl weekend, they had staff going around with chips and drinks the whole night which I thought was nice, Argenys at the beach bar was super nice goes above and beyond to make the perfect drink, the food is TERRIBLE was sick the whole time I was there, I was afraid to eat because I already knew I was going to be running to the bathroom, mind you I’ve been to plenty of resorts in punta cana never have I ever gotten sick, the staff at the buffet were very nice, it’s unfortunate that the food was disgusting, will I be returning to this resort ? Nope!

Was a lovely hotel, all the staff was friendly and we were upgraded for free because our room was not ready on time. Lots of amenities and activities. The pools and beach were beautiful. The only thing that I would say could be improved is the food. Buffet food is the same everyday and gets pretty old after a few days. The alacarte dinners were better for sure, but very hard to book into as they fill up fast.

Very poor food quality (1/5), unpleasant staff only moved by tips (2/5), non renovated rooms and restaurants lacking of cleanliness (2/5). In the night we arrived there was an issue in the sewers next to the main restaurant, that was not solved in the meantime. We were all week eating with a hard sewer smell in the buffet room. Too far from being a real 5 star accommodation, as the trea**ent you receive from the staff in general is not in accordance to a real 5 star resort. They simply do not care about you, unless you tip them. Not even a good value for money option at all! What we expected to be a relaxing holiday, ended in a stressful and unpleasant experience.
